Guys,

Planning a trip to Tampa, FL and trying to book a hotel which is on the beach. Looks like Petersburg beach and Clearwater beach are a nice bet. But a decent hotel (hilton) costs around $120. Just wondering if I'm missing anything. My only criteria is I need a decent hotel on the beach and would love if it is cheap

b. Dates of travel - 9/4 - 9/7
c. Departure city (and airports)/destination - Tampa Int'l Airport, FL
d. # of people - 2
e. # of nights - 3
f. Approximate budget for your trip - $500
g. Activities that interest you - Snorkeling, watersports like Jetskiing.

Appreciate any response,
Prash

My bad, please look for St. Petersburg Beach

I think any decent beach close to Tampa Airport should be good, not just the above mentioned ones.
Thx,
Prash

We stayed at the doubletree in North Reddington Beach in late June - one of the few resorts on the beach, where you can also drink. Decent property, plenty to do.

WOW - We used hilton Hhonors points for the entire reservation - had no idea of the price.

It is one of the best beachfront properties in the area; most everything else are small, independent properties and condos; have you checked VRBO.com?

Tarpon Springs is another nice beach area - Narcosis Dive shop (highly recommended) had a great t-shirt: Tarpon Springs - a small Drinking Village with a Fishing Problem

Wow - top row, on the left!

Didn't realize they had pics online - one of my wife in the Gulf gallery, seventh image - descending the anchor line.

If you're still looking, hit me up on PM or email (if you can email through this site). I live in the area, and have lived in places directly on the Gulf for the last year. You need to know some locals to get the deals.

$800/wk is about what you'll pay for a nice 2bdrm on the Gulf. I can find cheaper places if you're willing to walk a block for the sunset view, as opposed to watch it from your balcony.

Oh, and STAY away from Clearwater unless you want to overpay in a tourist trap. It's the worst, but most advertised. Treasure Island, Reddington, Indian Rocks or Indian Shores, etc. are all right along the same stretch of Gulf without all the BS. I know a nice place on Sunset Beach, directly on the water, $112/nt.

Activities? What isn't there? Dolphin watching, swimming with manatee, parasailing, jet skis, sailing, kayaking, whatever you want is here. Like I said, hit me up if you're still trying to get it done.
