Getting extra room keys in Vegas

Hi FWers,

I was wondering if anyone knew if it's possible to book a room for just 2 people, but get more than 2 keys during check-in. The extra charge per person is really high, and I'm trying to avoid that cost if possible. Maybe the $20 trick will work for this as well? Thanks in advance!

There are security cameras everywhere...good luck with your scheme.

BTW will you be ordering cocktails with 4 straws?

This isn't a problem at all - get your first two keys, go to the pool and conveniently forget your room key but bring your ID. Go to the front desk and tell them you forgot to bring your room key to the pool. They'll check your ID and give you a new key.

This question struck me as funny since I've never had a hotel give me a problem over additional keys...

Won't they invalidate the previously issued keys?

If you say you left your key in your room, the hotel would not invalidate the old keys, as there is no security concern.

If you say you lost your key, they'll probably invalidate the existing key cards.

i've never had a problem (even in vegas) to get extra room keys -- and i've stayed at mgm, monte carlo, belaggio, and venetian.

We've always booked 2/room and had 4 guests multiple times. never a problem. don't waste the $20 trick on this.....get an upgrade with it!

Everytime I use the $20 sandwich (100% success btw in like 10+ tries), they almost always offer me extra keys. One time they gave me 8 at MGM because I said I wanted to pass them out to my room-party guests.

This is like an R Kelley song...we got room keys!!

We are 4 of us and have never paid for 4 in our life...we only pay for 2 and take 4 in with us..No one has asked any questions...Some days I have sneaked in my dog too...LOL !!

because i'm sure casinos and hotels in vegas are really concerned with 4 people walking into a room. personally, i think it's BS they charge twice as much for 4 people.

When I did the $20 tip at the Mirage (which worked though the upgrade wasn't anything spectacular), it was with a room booked for only 2 people. I asked for 3 more keys (there were 5 of us) and she happily obliged. She also gave us enough free passes for 5 people for various clubs.

I think it's BS that you can't get a basic room with a coffee maker, fridge, and free wifi at the Paris for 60 bucks.

Is this "$20 trick" just tipping the check-in person $20?

man, i got all that at a Days Inn
in richmond last month! i think i would have rather had a Paris-type of room, tho :/

I go to Vegas often. I keep an old wallet in my glove box and store old hotel keys in it. Must have at least 20 different Vegas hotels. The reason I do this is so I can valet park my car.

Often during dinner hours or late night, the valet lot fills up because people are eating dinner, going to a show, going to a club, etc. The valet lot is then only open to hotel guests. And how do they know you're a hotel guest? Show em a key!
