I'm wondering if anybody has ever gotten the price assurance refund?
I know that someone has to book through Orbitz your exact itinerary at a lower price for you to qualify. The only way I can see to test this is to book an itinerary and then when the price drops have someone else book the exact same itinerary through Orbitz.
Just got off the phone with a second customer service rep in a week. Bastards Scammers White collar crooks ! I am surprised that they are still able to conduct business here in the US.
I booked 3 tickets for over $1100 with them even though I was getting it cheaper else where bcoz of their so called “price assurance”. Later our aunt decides to join us for the trip and her daughter books the exact same flight (same day/same time/next row) for around $250, so the difference Orbitz owes me is well over $100 per ticket, but the lying SOG Orbitz tracker still says that I have the lowest price. First time I called, they asked me to give 48 hours, I said fine, I will give you a week, 2 weeks later, still the same. Today, I was told that she is going to write to the back office folks as to why the lowest price has not been reflected yet. I told her that Orbitz better straighten it out or I want a refund by tomorrow so I can book the lower price directly with the airlines. Lets see.
This one, I have all the proof, screen-shots, screen videos, printouts, their Price Assurance policy, everything and am willing to take it all the way. If it does not go nicely, I will first complete the travel, then dispute the entire CC charge with AMEX (which rocks by the way) and send them the entire information. I will make sure that not only I get the price difference which is by all means mine but I also get reimbursed for all the pain and anxiety caused by their criminal intent.
New Buyers Beware - you may not be that lucky to know some one who has booked the exact same flight!
I was reading a post over on FT that I can't find at the moment, where someone did have luck with it.
However, it surely wouldn't be something I would count on. If itinerary includes a seat on a plane, it makes it pretty hard for someone else to also have that same itinerary (seats might be in the same cabin, but they have all these different classes of fares, so that means it might not be the same).

There's a price assurance button in your Orbitz account for the booked trip that is suppose to check to see if the price has lowered since your booking, if it is you get a refund. I remember trying it a few times but the price never changed. From reading this thread, it sounds like the whole thing is BS so perhaps that button doesn't even work.

Please don't trust Orbitz. I made a reservation and price went down by $44 in Expedia and same story saying some one has to book the same flights and same days. Please don't make reservation with Orbitz anymore with PriceAssurance in mind.
