I am planning to going to LA with my family and stay from 11/21 to 11/24 and then one night in San diago. So far I found on Hot wire, 3.5* in Air port area LA for 58/night, and think parking will be 15~25 $. Need help I want to stay near Universal Studio, but can stay away for a cheaper price in 3.5* + hotel. thank in advance. Also if anybody knows where to get a cheaper Go Card, I found it for $ 130.00 per person for 3 days, is that ok price for it?, thanks again.
Neighborhoods change quickly in Los Angeles - particularly around the airport - so I would avoid the opaque sites, and use tripadvisor to review properties found on sites like Travelzoo and Orbitz.
Get $40 Off when you book 3+ nights at Orbitz, Expires: 12/31/2009, code: AFFORB40

Well, I will buy those too, I am taking my family their and looking for a decent hotel, on Hotwire they show 55~60 but then u pay 25 in parking with no breakfast. I can't decide which area and which hotel will cut the deal for me, I am just looking for the hotel now as the go card I have already decided to buy.
Hollywood is a touchy area. I would try to stay with a major reliable chain. Remember that LA is a major city and hotel prices are going to be higher. You might want to try the Burbank area or Glendale area, it's close to Hollywood and quicker to get to Universal, etc. Avoid the airport, unless you are staying in Marina Del Rey or Manhattan Beach.

I don't live in LA but I know this is bogus advice.

In Hollywood, the Renaissance Hollywood is a nice choice located at Hollywood & Highland and part of a shopping/retail complex with the Kodak Theater, the Chinese Theater, the Walk of Fame, and Disney's El Capitan all in one location. For Universal Studios, the hilton Universal City is across from the main entrance and is the closest hotel to Universal Studios and Citywalk. I've stayed at both several times and the locations are excellent - well worth it.

Actually, this is excellent advice.
Both Glendale and Burbank are great locations with some excellent hotels.

1)Didn't cite "Glendale";
2)"Burbank" isn't a DEAL.
3) If you can't read, you must be from KALEEFORNIA.
I never said you cited Glendale.
Based on Tripadvisor, as well as my own experience, Burbank has some excellent properties.
The OP asked for LAX area airport hotel - depending on traffic, BUR can be an hour or more away.
Back to Reading Comprehension 101 for you!!!
OP did not ask for lodging near LAX.... He wanted lodging near Universal Studios.
He merely quoted his research results which included a Hotwire property near LAX.
As with your incorrect information on Glendale, you really should know your facts before advising people looking for help.
Sounds like I'm the only person who lives in Los Angeles. Glendale and Burbank are right next to each other. LAX to Universal Studios is around 30 miles. Burbank, depending on which hotel, is about 4 miles. Glendale is about 5-6 miles. Hmmmmm, which would be closer, which one?? Think Think Think. Now, In Burbank there is a Marriott by the Burbank Airport. Also, near the Burbank Media Shopping Center there is a Courtyard Marriott, Extended Stay Hotel and a Holiday Inn and Residence Inn . In Glendale you have hilton and some Travelodge , Quality Inn type hotels. Now I know a lot of you are trying to help out by pointing out and nit picking what he or she did or did not say, but in all honesty LA is my hometown and I'll take each and everyone of you down when it comes on where to stay and what's closer. OOOhhhh yeah, by the way, I work as a manager in concierge at a Major hotel in Los Angeles. Hmmmmmmmmm. I guess I'm still not qualified for this.
