To celebrate, as we near the big day, we’re giving every HawaiianMiles member 80 free miles or an $80 eCertificate towards a flight between Hawaii and the Mainland U.S. Everyone will receive 80 miles just for registering and every 80th person to register will receive an $80 eCertificate in place of the miles.

All you need to do is update your HawaiianMiles account with a valid email address and enter your number below between November 4-11 to see which you’ve won.

$80 eCertificate & 80 miles Program Details:

* Discounts apply to roundtrip flights between Hawaii and Mainland U.S.
* Sign up must be completed by November 11, 2009
* Discount applies for travel between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010.
* Must be booked by March 31, 2010.
* Discount applies to up to one passenger per HawaiianAirlines.com booking; one booking per member.
* eCertificate will be available in your HawaiianMiles account 2 - 3 business days after sign up.
* Every 80th registration will receive an $80 off eCertificate.
* eCertificates will be issued at the end of the day; A member cannot receive both 80 miles and the $80 off eCertificate in a day.
* Only one ecertificate will be issued to a given member during the promotional period.
* A member can only receive a total of 80 miles during the entire promotional period. 80 miles will be issued at the end of the promotional period on November 12, 2009.
* Member must have valid email address available in member account.
* eCertificates are limited, and will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis. This promotion will be over when the eCertificates run out.* Get yours today!
* eCertificate does not apply to award redemption bookings, dollar/mile combination fare bookings, promotional travel, multi-city reservations, previous bookings or vacation package reservations.
* eCertificates will only be added to individual HawaiianMiles accounts and cannot be applied to specialty accounts such as Corporate and Affiliate accounts.
* Discounts do not apply to Hawaiian Airlines Visa® Business Card holders.

* eCertificates are limited, the sign up page will be live until November 11, 2009 or as long as supplies last. Members who input qualified eCertificate requests into the field provided prior to the promotion ending are guaranteed to receive an eCertificate.

but --- the marketing is a bit cheesy

you have to check back to see if you got a measly 80 miles or a 80-1 chance to get $80

so basically they are handing out a buck for your trouble

they aren't even giving you the buck
they are giving you the equivalent of a buck towards their flights

with the average west coast flight around $500 --- that is 0.002% off

that is a joke

Before anyone gets all crazy, the posted fares for the promo are not the lowest I have seen. I just booked for SFO-HNL for $164 each way (the promo RT fare is $454). So even if I won the $80, the posted fare with discount is still higher than what I paid. The $164 fare is pretty restricted but is being offered at all 3 Bay Area airports (use the "view by month" feature to see where the lowest rates are).
