Looked at a fare this afternoon, price ~ 300 dollars. Came home and checked with the wife if shes ok with the trip. Go to book, was going to add a hotel, but in the meantime the fare jumps up ~100 bucks.
200 dollar difference in trip cost over the cost of 15 mins. arghhh.
Just annoying, now i'll just wait. That 200 bucks crosses a good/no go point for this trip.
Edit:
Ended up with the trip I wanted at the price I wanted to pay.
But Travelocity needs to be whipped. Random flight changes. Promo codes working every other time I go to the site. crashing in the middle of booking, only to have flights disapear. UGH.

Did you try the Bing fare predictor to see if it has an opinion the future price?bing says it should go down. Is bing trustworthy though?
its just annoyingDoes it show a high confidence level? They are trustworthy to the point of their statistics and the algorithm they use, but obviously many unforseen thing could happen to affect prices. If you were going to not go anyway, then nothing to lose by waiting and checking (or do a fare alert).
I recently waited to book a trip and it paid off. Instead of paying $350-$400 per ticket I paid $269 for two tickets. Although the prices did drop further to $255 I was happy with what I paid.
The flights I wanted were on Continental.com where you can sort of see how many empty seats are left on each part of the flight. My plane was over 50% empty both ways so I had a really good feeling prices were going to drop.
Bing's indicator kept saying all sorts of things but I looked at the fare history graph and knew that the prices being offered were nowhere near the average. It took about two weeks of fare watching to get my price.

I think the flight I was working on is filling up.
I found an acceptable back up though. It does involve a drive. But the fare is still $50/ticket lower then the orignal offer. (so ~100 for the 2 of us), and >200 cheaper then the direct flight. This flight however is significantly cheaper then any I found for in the past 2 weeks, so i'm going to jump on it.
