We will be in Vegas on December 22 with our 3 teenage boys and thought this might be a great family activity. Not really sure who will be playing but, we love football and this is a chance to go to a bowl game. So I am sure it would be fun. Only tickets left online are nose bleed end zone tickets @$30 each. Could someone from Vegas area tell me if this game normally sells out? I am just wondering if we should wait and buy our tickets from one of the nice gentlemen circling the stadium before game time, or go for the sure-thing nose-bleed seats. What do you think?
During the MWC Media Days, Commissioner Craig Thompson hinted that it was time for a change at the Maaco Bowl Las Vegas, and that it would be in the best interest of both the bowl and BYU that the Cougars not make a fifth straight appearance in Vegas. Based on those comments, the assumption has been that a successful BYU team would be ticketed for the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego, with Las Vegas opting to take equally successful Utah.
Well, it may be time to reconsider those assumptions. The word I'm getting is that the Las Vegas Bowl folks do not feel beholden to Commissioner Thompson's wishes and, and that they want the "best team available" for their game. According to what I'm hearing, Las Vegas wants to invite the winner of the BYU-Utah game, even it does mean a fifth straight invite for the Cougars.
So, it looks like either way, a utah team will be playing. If a utah team plays, count on it being sold out. If no utah team plays, there may be some seats left, but don't bet on it.

Thanks, so much for the input. I'll take your advise and go for the sure thing.
Agree with other poster. If a Utah team is chosen to play, the game WILL be sold out. Personally, I would buy the tickets in advance OR see what is available at stubhub.
Part of the allure of attending ANY bowl game is that it is more than just a game. You generally have an opportunity to attend a number of events related to the bowl games which can be a blast. Check the website to get a listing of the events.
On the day of the event, get there early as traffic around Sam Boyd stadium can be really heavy.
