In an effort to regain control of the Las Vegas Hotel Promos thread so it returns ONLY to the actual promos, I'm creating this new discussion thread as a partial replacement of the now locked Las Vegas Requests thread. I'm going to leave maintenance of that excellent thread and its main page to Intoxic8, and will monitor this thread for discussion on promos.

EDIT: This thread has been accepted by FW as the 'official' discussion thread for Las Vegas Hotel Promos.

Please note that requests for Las Vegas deals should be posted as per NORMAL FatWallet Travel rules as a NEW 'REQUEST - ...' SEPARATE topic. Reply to this for discussion of posted Las Vegas hotel deals (ie if they are open to all, what extras you get, how to book them, and other questions you may have).

Thanks.

First off, I really like this thread as I think the promo thread should only be devoted to promos. In the past, I found it a lot easier to navigate and search for deals ONLY when deals were posted and not questions. Inevitably though, I know there will be questions from members, so I think this thread is a great idea. On that topic, I have a question about a recent promo:
1) Hotel: Caesar's Palace
2) Promotion Name: Your Winter Getaway from $99/Night
3) Promotion Code: PKGCHLY or ICHLY
4) Dates Valid: Now - Jan. 30
5) Expires: N/A
6) For Total Rewards Members
7) Link
8) Stay at Caesars Palace from $99*/night, enjoy a $20 food credit each night, and relax on the way home with a travel pillow set.
Add some jolly to the holidays with a Caesars Palace package guaranteed to brighten your season. Stay at the Las Vegas legend, enjoy a $20 food credit per night and relax on the way home with a Caesars Palace travel pillow set. *Low rate applies to Classic room only

The deal mentions that it is for "total rewards member". I was wondering if Caesars Palace is strict about that policy? Like if I reserve a room under that promo, will I be charged full price once I get there? Has anybody ever done something like that? Thanks

They may ask for your Total Rewards card upon check in. If you are concerned about them asking just sign up and get a Total Rewards card before you check in to the hotel. There are Total Reward booths at all Harrah's property. Just get the card before check in and you should have no problems.

I actually called them and asked about this. I told them that I am not a member yet and cannot sign up online. They said that as far as the hotel reservation is concerned, you do not really need to be a rewards member. In addition, the $20 dining credit also applies to the buffet.

I hear the rooms being offered for that Caesar's promo are pretty bad, anyone with any experience with the classic or roman tower rooms? What are the chances of getting a comp upgrade to one of the nicer towers, would they see that your reserved this particular promo and not even consider it?

I believe you can book that promo with a Total Rewards # so I would feel pretty comfortable in booking it. It is easy for Total Rewards to make you enter a # (or have you login to your account) so if they don't, I'm pretty sure it is open to all. It is very easy to sign up for Total Rewards on property.

I've stayed at Caesar's Palace before, but I was upgraded (back when they were tied to Starwood, I got an upgrade through them) so I don't know the standard rooms are. I like Cheapo Vegas to get a brief overview of a place before I stay there. The rules for upgrades in Vegas are a little different than anywhere else; refer to the Las Vegas Tipping thread ($20 trick). And sometimes you can get an upgraded room just for asking too. I don't think booking the promo will lock you OUT of any upgrade, however.

I'll also add a comment about Venetian deal posted here for 2-4 free nights -- it is only open to those Venetian Club Grazie members targetted for the offer. Just having the card is not good enough. You CAN book the promo by jerry rigging the URL and putting in the posted code but I do not recommend that as you will probably be charged the regular (or higher) amount once their system catches you are not eligible.

First off, thanks everyone for your input, I think I will just sign up for their total rewards when I arrive. I know the rooms are pretty bad, but I'm banking it on the $20 tip (it never failed me) to get me an augustus tower. According to the $20 thread and other websites that keep tallys, the probability of getting an upgrade at Caesar's is quite high.

Hey guys, me and a few of my friends are going to Vegas this January for 4-5 days. I'm looking for a suite-type room that won't cost me an arm and a leg. We're gonna be 5 people so perhaps a 1br, or 2br suite is preferred. Any suggestions on which hotels I should be looking at? Thanks in advance..

Anteezy, welcome to Fatwallet, but your request for a specific deal should be posted as new request thread (you'll see the suggestions when you make a new post in the Travel Forum). This thread is for discussion of specific deals already posted to the stickied Las Vegas Promo thread.

If a discussion of a previous deal is allowed, I gotta say that my 4 night trip to Vegas staying at the MGM Grand with the Twitter promotion was fantastic! A big "thanks" to the original poster! The spa suite for $60/night was a great deal, but to make it better they upgraded us to a Jr. Suite at the Signature towers for no charge or resort fee. It was our 20th anniversary, and thanks to FW it turned out perfect. Also used a code for Phantom found here. Thanks again!

Sure, lonekazoo, that seems in specs. I got texted by MGM Grand that following them on twitter will get you good deals; the last one I saw was a suite for the same price as a regular room, seemed decent! I believe they post them on Thursdays.

This may be a silly question, but here goes:

When I log into my playersclub.com account I see 14 offers. Not many are that special seeing as how I'm a low roller and have only been there once. But I do have TWO seperate offers from Excalibur offering 2 free nights (Sun-Thurs), each with it's own offer code.

Is it possible to make a free 2 night reservation using one offer code, and then make another using the other code?

If you can book them online, well you got two choices, book them both and see what happens. If you can't book them online and have to call in anyway, then typically the agent will tell you (since they usually see all your pending reservations when you give them your Players Club #) I'm a low roller too, and apparently lower than you since I have no free night offers from playersclub.com either.

None of the Excalibur offers I have on my playersclub account let me book online.. if its different for you, then good luck. I think different offer codes would be honored for different reservations, but do you really want to spend four nights at Excalibur?

Just me or is the MGM Mirage reservation system not working?

Says link not found, yes the offers are still valid, yes I've tried IE and firefox same result.

The links works for me but I keep getting "Request Failed (code=17)" when trying to book at The Excalibur.

I had those same errors (RC=17) when I was trying a few days ago, too. Have not tried recently tho.

A recent off topic post on the main thread talked about resort fees. This may be a good place (Quick Summary?) to list the resort fees -- which are required fees you have to pay on top of the room rate. Some resort fees include items of real value (such as high speed internet) but the key thing is that they are required fees.

The top ones I've seen are at Green Valley and Red Rock Resort -- which charge a $25 per night resort fee (includes Internet). It was so high that I stayed somewhere else because of it -- I pay for a data card so why do I need a daily high fee. The only Vegas casino hotel I know of that still does not charge a resort fee is South Point.

Wow, seems all my friends and I got lucky then. We were all qualified for the promo! Anyway, for those wanting to book, keep in mind that the Value Days calender is not updated in real time. In fact, I'm not even sure it's updated on a daily basis. The best way to check for availability is to call the 866 number.

Sooo... I'm planning for my upcoming annual LV trip oh so diligently, and I come across this deal from the Trop:

24 Hours For 28 bucks at Island Buffet

Other places in town only give you a limited time to get your fill. Tropicana's Island Buffet gives you a full 24 hours. For only $28, you can keep coming back for more. Breakfast, lunch, dinner? The Island Buffet offers tempting treats anytime of day. You'll enjoy it all -- for a full 24 hours from the time of your first visit. And with great hours, you'll have plenty of time to get your fill

Can I use the ACG 2-4-1 coupon with this deal? If so, then this is extraordinary!

Here's hoping!

Any info would be great!

Thanks!

has anybody used the Harrah's friends and family deal?
http://www.harrahs.com/vegasvacation when I click on any of the links on the page it says deal expired, but at the top of main page it says valid through June 2010

Thanks paulie for sharing the link and putting it into the Quick Summary. Great info!

I highly doubt that they'll let you use the ACG discount on top of the discounted 24 hour buffet price, but you never know. I used the ACG discount at Orleans (Buy 2 get 1 Free) and they took the $.50 Club Coast member off the lunch price off BOTH buffets, and then credited me the full price for the coupon (so I paid less than 2 for 1). So its up to the cashier, probably.

Per the Harrah's expired deal, you can wait and see if they update their systems on Monday, or you can also try to reach out to the casinos via Twitter -- almost all the Harrah casinos are very active there.

We were in LV a couple of weeks back, took advantage of a free daily buffet deal at the MGM. While the food was decent, with lots of variety, even once a day was too much by the fourth day.

There are plenty of other great food deals along the strip, and we found a nice little La Salsa across from NYNY that served a quick, decent breakfast for less than $10 pp all-in till 11 am.

I just booked 2 nights using this same deal I received in the mail (they did ask for offer code and ID). However, on the mail piece it says that the free stay is contingent upon us playing at the same levels we have in the past. So, does this mean that if we dont play to their satisfaction, they'll charge the room to us? I don't have any experience staying at the Venetian, so this was a little confusing to me. I also heard that even though the room is comped, they will put a hold on your credit card for several hundred dollars. Does anyone know about this? We will also be staying at the Paris comped for 5 nights. Do they also put a hold on your card for hundreds of dollars? At thsi rate, I'll have nothing left to gamble with!

Any help is always greatly appreciate! You know these hotels, sometimes they say one thing and do the other... it's always nice to hear other's experiences!

If you got offered two free nights based on your previous gambling levels, then you should be good to go for your next stay. I believe the disclaimer means that if you don't gamble enough this upcoming free stay, they may not offer you any more free nights in the future. Or sometimes you see that disclaimer when you get offered a discounted rate, and then you are supposed to gamble X more to get even further discounts (for example, I got turned down at the Orleans for further discount on a rate at one point). However, since your rate starts at free, I believe you are ok.

As per the hold placed for comped rooms, I don't know. I always use a credit card for my rooms, so the hold doesn't matter since I'm using ATM/Debit card for the cash to gamble. If you're gambling off credit, then you have bigger problems I can't resolve and if you're using a debit card for the rooms.. consider getting a regular credit card. Just my $.02. Either way, enjoy the free week in Las Vegas!

so, is this also the new thread for promos (like the wonderful old one)?

I can't see many promos....just talking.

am i in the right place? :-S

No, you're not. The Promo Thread is linked in the first post. Discussions/questions about the promos posted in that thread are appropriate here. Thanks.

pitflyer- Thank you soo much for the advice. I can see how it works now. Believe me, I was astonished when they sent me the free stay anyway! We usually only play a couple hundred here and there, and are very careful not to spend too much gambling, so I can't imagine that I ever spent any substantial amount at their casino. I guess they must really be hurting.

p.s. I DO NOT gamble on credit!! HAHA! That would be a terrible idea, and if the case, I should be in Vegas in the 1st place. I don't, however have a very high limit on my cc that I was planning to use for this trip, AND I had planned to put my car, food, and some shows on that card. I was just hoping I wouldn't end up not being able to use my card the whole trip cause it's full up on holdings.

I'll call the hotels to cerify. I was just looking a review and a guy said that the Venetian put a $1000 hold on his card for a comped night, so... I guess you just never know!

work for me got a great deal at flamingo

and I got red because????

Thanks for the heads up FirstDun, yes the links in http://www.harrahs.com/vegasvacation are now working. Seems decent at first glance, Caesar's Palace $160 a night for Memorial Day Weekend, Flamingo $69 the same weekend. Might go for the latter - not that great a hotel I know but location is excellente!

For help with booking travel, please create a new thread with your Las Vegas Request, following the guidelines when you start a new thread. If you have questions about a specific deal, feel free to post here. Thanks! I would recommend starting with the last post in the main Las Vegas deal thread and checking rates through the links for your weekend.

Does anyone know if there are ever any deals on the Monorail? I'm not talking about the a day pass etc, but rather 2 for 1, or book of tickets etc....

Hey guys, just wanted to see what people thought of this deal. I'm going to vegas from mar 18-22 and am booked at mgm signature for about a grand after the free night. This is before flight. I found a deal on southwest vacations for:

PHX-LAS 4 nights at encore, resort room king for $706 plus $30 each per person pre travel waiver, just in case. I wanted to stay somewhere nice (Sigs, encore/Wynn, venetian/palazzo) and this seems like a killer deal with the flight included. The flight would have been $238.80 total, making four nights at encore 527.48 with pretravel waiver.

Is this the best deal? I've checked the current promos and with the pre travel waiver if the price goes down I can call and change it.

TIA!

Edited to add: It says that the Encore will be undergoing renovation, anyone have experience with this? We are not above tipping or complaining if we can get a better room, I know it sometimes varies with each hotel.

I think there are sometimes small coupon for discounts on the monorail, but I don't remember seeing those recently. Those coupons often required you to go to a staffed station, and a lot of the stations were not staffed at many times to use them. For the most part I think the discount was small or the same as a day pass.

Per the Encore deal, the typical 'low' price I see for the Encore is $119. Sometimes I see it at $149 for buy two nights, get 1 free. Factor it with taxes. So for four nights, I'd expect to spend about $500 at Encore (without comps, etc). Since you get the waiver for the full reservation, including the air, I'd say that's not a bad price. Make sure the waiver lets you cancel for any reason up to X amount in advance (some waivers require documentation, not sure about that one), and if you did your homework with the Wynn/Bellago/Encore and possibly the next level like Caesar's, etc rates posted in the main thread, it's not a bad deal. Per the renovation, I don't know, but its such a huge hotel and sometimes in March are really quiet (except for March Madness)

It seems that $240 RT for such a short flight with so many frequencies between Southwest and USAirways is actually pretty high, though. Make sure you can't get the flight cheaper when you do the math (since the numbers above considered $527 for the hotel and the air cost as 'fixed' in a sense).
