Taking the family to Maui for the first time in a few weeks. Where is a good place to get discount coupons? Someone told me Entertainment Book but looking on their website the discounts seemed poor.

Any suggestions for places to see or things to do?

it's difficult to give suggestions without a specific information about who you are and what you want to do

a travel book or web searches of something like tripadvisor would be better

with a book --- you get an index and you can to the chapter you want

with google --- you can narrow your focus

with a web forum like this, you might be lucky if you get a random post or two that helps

Ok, how is this. Best places to find discounts on activities like snorkling, aquarium, whale watching and other excursions? Any other activities on Maui people would suggest for a family with a 3yr?

search for hawaii or maui in these forums, also search the archived threads and you will see several threads from the past that have good suggestions.

If you can put up with it, there are several places that give you free or deeply discounted tickets to events if you go listen to their timeshare pitch. Takes about an hour if I recall correctly.

1) More than 60mins.

2) Require H and W attend and no kids.

Highly discourage this if you don't want to waste your time. There are several pre-reqs (married, home owners...) to qualify for it and then it takes a longer then an hour. Couple of friends went this route and ended up wasting most of their morning.

And, if you're not really interested in timeshares, you may not like the pressure these sales people will give you when you're done with the presentation.

Pick up a copy of Maui Revealed at your local library. There are WONDERFUL tips and suggestions, including cost-saving excursions, free stuff and more. If you want to go snorkeling, don't go on one of those day trips. Just go to a snorkeling rental place, such as Snorkel Bob's, rent equipment for a week and get their map on places to find the best snorkeling for free. There are some bays on the northern part of the island that are just awesome!

I second buyonsale3's suggestions.

Unless you plan to make regular visits to Maui, don't cut corners to save a few bucks on activities. Strongly consider recommendations from Maui Revealed, check TripAdvisor forums for confirmation. Likewise, snorkeling, hiking on Maui are no places for a 3 year old; leave the rugrat with a relative, friend and enjoy yourselves.

Rent kayaks in Wailea, Kihea for some offshore snorkeling, whale watching.

The drive to Hana can also be a great experience, hiking up trails to isolated waterfalls.
