Great ... that's when fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon (October). Hurricanes are pretty rare here. I've lived here over 30 years and the only two hurricanes that did a lot of damage were Hurricane Iwa (1982) and Iniki (1992). Statistically, you're safer here than say, Florida.

July & August had tons of hurricanes or cyclones -whatever.
-December 1902–January 1903: A low pressure system (known later as "The Froc Cyclone") that took a path similar to that of a tropical cyclone, passed through Kaulakahi Channel in late December 1902.
Hawaii is the most overrated place for a honeymoon or tropical travel in general
1) your still in the US 2) everything is insanely expensive (particularly travel from one island to the next, food, transportation, etc.) 3) although there are lots of interesting restaurants there are way too many chains 4) tons of other honeymooners going on their 'unique travel experience' 5) Overcrowded activities with too many snotty American kids and parents who dont kept them in check (I was born in the usa btw to american parents)
There are many places that are far more interesting and cost effective...many of the French and dutch Islands of the Caribbean, Malaysia (Perhentian Islands), Fiji, Southern Thailand, and there are others.
1) Flights will be priced a bit lower or a bit higher 2) Food, lodging, and activities will be much cheaper ($10/hr massages in Malaysia and probably less in Thailand) 3) More options for topless suntanning (particularly in the dutch/french) Caribbean...who wants tan-lines there?
The problem is so many people its their first time traveling out of the continental US that they get to Hawaii and think woah this is the be$t place on earth...and its associated with a honeymoon which makes it even more special for certain couples who are just waiting to act like rabbits for the first time...little do they know how much money they could have saved and what a more interesting experience they could have had by trying something different.
We went to Hawaii in Mid-Late September, Maui and Kauai, and it was not crowded at all. We had a beach all to over selves, weather was great. Only time I have been so not sure what the tourist times are like. I used tripadvisor.com for restaurant reviews and things to do and came in very very handy.
I think next time I go I would rent a condo on the beach instead of staying at a resort

1) your still in the US You're still in the US, but you definitely feel a big difference when it comes to the atmosphere and the people. I've been to various HI islands so many times and still feel that people over there are genuinely nice/helpful and much much friendlier. 2) everything is insanely expensive (particularly travel from one island to the next, food, transportation, etc.)It depends on what you're looking for and how you've been searching for deals. I've stayed in some of the best 5-star hotels for $99/night. There are also accommodations you can get from VRBO in some good hotels for less than what the hotel's rack rates are.
If you want to buy gifts/souvenirs and don't know how to bargain well, then, yes, you may end up not getting good deals there. If you're considering retiring there and didn't already buy your property 10 (or probably more) years ago, then, yes, real estate had sky-rocketed quickly in some areas. But, I wouldn't say that "everything" is expensive there.
People considering going to HI (especially if you've never been there) may want to consider getting an Entertainment Book. I think the savings from just a trip for two to PCC (compared to their rack rate for entrance fees) will already more than cover the cost of the book. 3) although there are lots of interesting restaurants there are way too many chainsAgreed. Try to avoid the chains, especially ones that are also available on the mainland. Of course, even McD there still has some items on the menu you wouldn't find here on the mainland. 5) Overcrowded activities with too many snotty American kids and parents who dont kept them in check (I was born in the usa btw to american parents)It depends on where you go. Even if you go to Waikiki area, there are some spots that aren't crowded. There are many places that are far more interesting and cost effective...many of the French and dutch Islands of the Caribbean, Malaysia (Perhentian Islands), Fiji, Southern Thailand, and there are others.I've been to these places and others and HI is still a good place to visit and relax in. And, they speak English better in HI than in those other "exotic" places. The problem is so many people its their first time traveling out of the continental US that they get to Hawaii and think woah this is the be$t place on earth...and its associated with a honeymoon which makes it even more special for certain couples who are just waiting to act like rabbits for the first time...little do they know how much money they could have saved and what a more interesting experience they could have had by trying something different.Yes, there may be other good/better places to go to, but I can't deny the fact that HI is a good vacation destination. It really depends on preferences, too. Quite a few people I know feel safer if they're still in the US and HI is one of the better places in the US.

You make some good points, but I would point out that for many people being able to visit someplace like Hawaii but still be in the US is a good thing. You speak the language, can read the maps/find your way around, understand the money, etc.
Not trying to be the "ugly American" here, but traveling halfway around the world for a $10/hour Thailand massage (I'll graciously let someone else make the joke here) isn't what _everyone_ wants on their honeymoon.

Thank you for the insight. The person I was going with cancelled and I am still planning to travel alone so I am trying to find the safest and most efficient way to travel. I need as many ideas as possible. First I will be using travel miles for first class ticket. Also, I want to do a little island hopping with in reason. I need a little guidance from someone who traveled alone to hawaii.

You may be surprised at the price of island-hopping. I paid $150 RT from HNL-KOA and that was the lowest price flight that day on Hawaiian Air. Sometimes island-hopping involves changing flights in HNL so you will be using a lot of that day to fly.
