My first post was about Lenovo 40%-50% off, which is a decent deal IMO. (http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/954379) Granted there were some issues with the deal, i.e. you must copy and paste the link as Lenovo apparently filters redirects from fatwallet, and I also misspoke when I said that deal was for everything Lenovo when it only applied to Thinkpads and accessories.
Now, the deal is still great, in fact for some laptops, i.e. X301 it's the best currently available, but for some reason my post right away got two negative dings from senior members. What gives? I'm new here, so perhaps I don't feel the group dynamic here yet, but if this board is one of those with everyone highly stuck up, then my tenure here as a contributor may be quite brief.
I just want to understand what exactly I said wrong that people thought it was worth marking as negative.
Hi Zopa, the only reason your post was voted negatively is because the link you posted doesn't go anywhere. If people can't find the deal, they will give it red. It wasn't anything personal against you! If you have any questions on any future posts, please let us know. Thanks and welcome!

Well, if this is the reason, then it's even worse than I thought... My deal clearly says that you need to COPY AND PASTE for the link to work, as it doesn't work by simply clicking on it. The same was explained again and noted by multiple members as well.
Should I take from this that any deal that requires an ability to read and some, albeit miniscule, effort on the part of the reader will be flagged as bad? This is just sad...
Zopa, the comments in the thread may explain part of why the deal received several reds. You did notice that someone found an alternate way to get a better deal for some models - when there's a lower price the higher-priced deal isn't much of one and it will tend to be rated negatively. Also, when you allow a link to be linked rather than simply pasting the text it can be confusing. Next time just paste the link and include the "copy/paste to access the link" instruction. Near as I can tell based on the time of the posts and your last edit, some of those reds may have been left before you edited the OP to include the do not link instruction.
Don't take ratings so seriously. Its not a personal attack on you, or a discouragement of you posting deals as you find them. It is each user's rating of the deal - whether they have had bad experiences with the merchant, they find the title unhelpful, the deal really isn't "hot", the how-to get the deal is unclear, etc, its not necessarily about you in particular. Take it as a learning experience, and move on to the next deal.
