That's your opinion. They provide a decent haircut for a fair price. You must be a very vain person to believe a haircut that costs 5 times as much as this great clips deal make you a superior person to everyone else.

I bet you have a great personality. It's what all the real men a looking for that and a chick with a 5 dollar haircut.

sweet, thanks butcher

any luck using that coupon? dont see that anywhere else, very much likely PS

Just my 2 cents, I like Great clips price after coupon and hair cut. Normally I get $8.99 in coupon-mailers

photoshopped?
Maybe, maybe not. What's definitely true is that these offers vary from city to city. I've tried to use coupons from FW in the past, only to be shot down. They would go into their system and if they couldn't find the specific offer = fail.

Will Great CLips take expired coupons? I just found one that expired on the 15th...

my Great Clips put up a little sign that says "Great Clips will no longer accept expired coupons"...didn't look like an official sign, just printed out word doc...so YMMV

What's a tip? (Before giving me red, remember you're on FW)

In Pitt ad on TV said $5.99 no coupon required

str8flexed said: It really depends on the skill of the person cutting your hair. I've been to a Great Clips a couple of times and had some okay results as well as some terrible ones. However, it's this unpredictability that really isn't worth the minute savings. They don't pay attention to detail, from what I gather, since they have no pride for their establishment. They also are most likely not schooled/trained in cutting hair. One time I went, they trimmed my sideburns and one side was at least a centimeter higher than the other. The other time, I accidentally said "fade" instead of "taper" and they never even bothered to correct me, and gave me an African-American style super close cut that was NOT even at all (looked VERY choppy in the back...where I couldn't see it).

While these places like Great Clips, Supercuts, Hair Cuttery, etc., are normally $12, they're the same thing as MacDonalds or another chain store which just hires unskilled employees who simply want to get paid for doing a job. I now go to a barbershop for $15-17 and get served by professionaly trained, pleasant barbers with pride in their establishment who understand that giving a good haircut brings customers back. They also have their certificates on display on the wall so I know they have been trained, and not jsut hired off the streets. I'm not saying that you need to go to a stylist, but I would at least find the closest local barbershop.

When I was in high school I got my haircut by a drunk who was stumbling all over the place. I was kind of naive, I figured he just had some kind of limp. maybe from the war. There were a lot more limping and stumbling old men back in those days, left over from the Great Depression, lack of prenatal or health care, fetal alcohol syndrome and a plethora of other problems. I got home and my mother freaked out. She had never seen such a mess. I didn't know what she was talking about. She made me call up the barber shop and talk to the owner. Turns out the old stumbling barber was a formerly good barber whose drinking was getting the better of him. The owner fixed my hair as best he could, apologized and gave me back my money.

Moral of the story is, you don't have to spend all that money, $15-17 just to get a haircut. If you're willing to ratchet down your standards a bit, get a slightly worse haircut, you can get a really good deal.

Ummmm. I think the moral of the story is don't get your hair cut by a drunk.

Or heed morals preached by a drunk...

I used the 8.99 coupon today at Supercuts without a problem -- this is in georgia. thanks to whomever posted it.

Great Clips in Tampa has a display that says "we do not accept internet coupons"!!!!

Loved that SuperBowl commercial about a new 'cheap' $6.99 haircut franchise business opening up directly across the street from a small local hair-cutting business. Grand Opening and lots of people are swarming over to it - his shop empty.

The owner looked perplexed - then ran over to OfficeMax to get a banner made. Puts the large banner up that states "We fix $6.99 haircuts".

Sure enough, several months later (elapsed time obviously) the commercial shows the franchise store with large "FOR LEASE" signs all over the windows with a smiling small business owner still in business with customers!

Classic commercial!! loved it.

Hi, I actually work at a great clips and have for 5 years now! I just want to comment on everyones posts and say we are not a bad franchise like everyone may believe. We are the same as every other salon just cheaper is all. Great clips was started in a time where there was no ala cart pricing structure so it was made for people not wanting to spend $50 on a shampoo and style when all they wanted was a cut. We are highly trained individuals and have to be by regulation of osha and state board! Every hairstylist goes to school for 1400 hours or more (depending on the state they live in) and if you feel like that individual hasnt then you may ask to see their hairstyling/cosmotology/barbering license! thats right we have one!

The reason that there is so much turnover in our salons and the whole hairstyling industry is by stylist choice, Great clips does not do color at all and some stylist like to switch to try and learn something new or to try to go to booth rental. That said your haircut will vary based on who does it if you dont like your service then speak to the manager at your local salon, they should know how to handle the situation!

As for coupons and I cannot stress this enough great clips is a franchise meaning if another store not within my franchise put out a coupon i might not be able to take it. that said dont get mad at me because as a stylist i have very little power involved in what coupons i can and cant take. Call your local salon before coming in to see if they take it to save yourself the trouble. (my store doesnt take internet coupons at all)

I enjoy reading the feadback and seeing what makes customer un happy with their experince so i can take that and use it on my customer so their experince is enjoyable.

Faster doesnt mean choppy and cheaper doesnt mean sloppy we have our system for a reason and it has worked for damn near 30 years, if you as a customer are unhappy with our service or feel that we are cheaper and equate that to being bad then we just may not be the salon for you and thats ok but we do help a lot of people who cant afford 50 cuts and 90 styles!!!!
