Who is the man behind the prospector's beard and friendly grin? That's Dan Moore, long-time modern prospector and silver medalist in the 1998 World Gold Panning Championships. Happy to share his wealth of local history and Gold Rush knowledge, Dan regularly visits local classrooms to provide hands-on demonstrations of panning that leave kiddos and teachers buzzing with gold fever. Under his instruction, a number of local folk have even gone on to win panning championships themselves. His extensive collection of gold-related items, such as nuggets, flakes, rare coins, and minerals, paired with engaging workshops and patient teaching skills make Yukon Dan a local treasure.
