During the ultrasonic liposuction treatments, a doctor injects targeted areas with a tumescent saline solution, a local anesthetic that works to numb the site and shrink blood vessels to minimize bleeding and reduce bruising. Then, the doctor makes 1.5- to 2-millimeter incisions in the skin before he inserts a Vaser probe into the incisions. The probe emits ultrasonic energy, which liquefies fat cells. Finally, the liquefied fat is sucked out gently with a microcannula.
This procedure is designed to rid the body of stubborn fat deposits that have proven resistant to diet and exercise. Recovery time for the procedure is approximately 48 hours, and the incisions are extremely tiny, which results in less scarring.
