About DFW Steam Cleaning
We spoke with owner, operator, and military veteran Tim to find out what makes his versatile company so unique:
LivingSocial: What inspired you to start DFW Steam Cleaning?
Tim: I'd been in the industry for a number of years -- and when you work for other companies, you think, "I can improve on this. I can do that better." And I had the opportunity last year to start my own business. The company and the website were launched with LivingSocial and it was absolutely a great experience.
LS: What separates your business from others?
T: Steam cleaning equipment is pretty much the same. Pricing is generally the same. So the thing that separates one steam-cleaning company from another is the technician -- the person that actually comes into your home. How the technician is with the customer and his or her individual level of experience are what separates average business from great businesses. Our personalities, value proposition, industry knowledge, and experience solving customers' cleaning needs all mold together and truly separate us from others.
LS: You're emphasizing the hardwood flooring cleaning in this deal -- why?
T: Hardwood floors are really popular in Texas -- a lot of customers are getting rid of carpet, so if you're a carpet cleaning business, you need to adapt. So I did some research on products, and Bona makes an amazing professional wood floor cleaning machine that's part of a larger hardwood maintenance system. We started using the system a few months ago -- and it's absolutely fantastic. It's like a little Zamboni. The floors look amazing - the amount of dirt and residue from the owner's maintenance that's removed from the floor is unreal. We apply a urethane maintenance in a glossy or satin after cleaning and the result looks like the surface pictured, which is an actual floor we did.
LS: What's the feedback from customers on your services?
T: We usually ask about the customer's last cleaning experience as part of our initial walkthrough and using that, we try to tailor our service to avoid the negativity the previous company left. We love feedback and we have quite a bit of it from customers on our website -- some even gave us a video review -- and yes, those are real customers, unscripted and done right after the job.
