Adobe Suites Overlooking Sedona’s Red-Rock Formations

Towering red-rock formations surround The Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort, a collection of adobe suites just 8 miles from downtown Sedona. These rock formations, which define central Arizona’s landscape, make a picturesque backdrop for hiking and mountain biking. Just a few miles to the north, you can fish for rainbow trout in the Oak Creek River or take a scenic drive through Oak Creek Canyon, a massive river gorge between the cities of Flagstaff and Sedona. The Ridge’s heated outdoor pool and communal grilling area offer sweeping views of the red rocks and Sedona’s arid desert landscapes. Studios and one-bedroom suites do, too—both have full kitchens and private balconies or terraces. Some overlook the 18-hole course at Sedona Golf Resort, which is scattered with sand traps and water hazards. Heated whirlpool spas dot the resort’s hillsides, and there’s also an onsite fitness center.

Sedona, Arizona: Majestic Rock Formations and Quirky Arts Community

Sedona is located in the high deserts of north-central Arizona at the base of the Mogollon Rim—a geologic escarpment, or cliff, that separates Arizona’s cooler high country from its arid lowlands. Surrounded by a band of red sandstone formations, Sedona boasts a breathtaking natural skyline. Head to the 3.2-mile Airport Loop hiking trail for views of famous outcroppings, such as Cathedral Rock and Courthouse Butte. About 10 minutes outside of the city at Slide Rock State Park, you can barrel down a natural water slide and see a preserved turn-of-the-century homestead. Since around the 1960s, artists have been drawn to Sedona's majestic landscape and cubist street signs. Although the arts scene has dwindled a bit in recent years, the city's creative spirit is still very much alive at Gallery Row, where more than 50 art shops and boutiques hawk pottery, jewelry, and metalwork.
