The eponymous star aficionado at Mark's Tree Farm invites groups of 20 sky gazers to the farm's enclosed viewing area, where he guides them through a 90- to 120-minute astronomy tour. High-powered laser pointers draw temporary maps throughout the lesson, which steers eyeballs toward galaxies and planets. Mark also points out constellations, including Orion and the three huge balls of tinfoil that make up Orion’s Belt. Guests can take a break from comfortable chairs and blankets to peer through a large telescope, scouting out celestial bodies such as Jupiter, Earth's moon, or various nebulae—vivid, polychromatic gatherings of dust and gas illuminated by nearby starlight. Weather and sky conditions dictate visibility.
