Trainers combine weight training and cardiovascular training for humans with dog training in one-hour outdoor workout sessions that provides a workout for both the dog and their owner. During each class, a certified fitness trainer leads people in their exercises, making sure they're performing each motion correctly. Meanwhile, a pair of dog instructors roams the camp, ensuring that canines obey their owners' commands. Sometimes, the man and beast duo sprint across open fields, lifting knees high. At other times, dogs sit perfectly still while their owners perform pushups or ab exercises or lift weights. At the end of each session, trainers encourage participants to thank their stalwart workout partners with hugs, petting, or repeat viewings of Turner & Hooch.

To ensure that dogs play well with others, camp instructors arrange a meeting with person and pet one week prior to the first workout.
