Tour guides take you through the Greek Revival mansion, which brims with American and European paintings, Civil War memorabilia, and Chinese exports from the 19th century. Guides highlight the mansion's China Trade collection, which includes bronze Chinese cranes, sculptures of Buddha, and three pairs of Chinese Foo Dogs. Other collections showcase personal items from members of the Forbes family, including a medicine chest used by Captain Robert Bennet Forbes in the 19th century.

Tours of the museum are available by reservation at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Forbes House Museum offers a discounted admission rate to senior citizens as well as free admission to children under 5 years old.
