AAA Four-Diamond Resort with Sprawling Casino and Five Restaurants
Mount Airy Casino Resort is set in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, a picturesque region located in Pennsylvania’s northeast corner. Guests here are within a short distance of several lakes, hiking trails, and ski trails. And inside the AAA Four-Diamond resort, which hosts upcoming shows including Everclear, Montgomery Gentry, and Blind Melon, you’ll find a 65,000-square-foot gaming floor and a stylish nightclub. There’s also an onsite spa, with services that range from massages to facials.
The casino has 72 table games and more than 2,000 slot machines, and it hosts buy-in poker tournaments on Fridays. Nearby, at Gypsies Lounge & Nightclub, which is only open on Fridays and Saturdays, house DJs spin records late into the night.
You may use your resort credit at any of five onsite restaurants, including Le Sorelle Cucina, an Italian restaurant that serves sicilian baked oysters and chicken parmesan. For an old-fashioned milk shake and a 1950s-style atmosphere, sidle up to the counter at Betty's Diner. The credit may also be used toward room service, golf, or spa treatments.
Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania: Scenic Hiking Trails and Quaint Historic Towns
Located about two hours from New York and Philadelphia, the Poconos has long been a popular retreat for city dwellers thanks to its stunning natural beauty. With an average monthly snowfall of more than a foot, it’s also a winter wonderland. Eight major alpine ski resorts are spread throughout the region, all with snowmaking capabilities and terrain parks for snowboarders. One of the nearby resorts, Camelback Mountain, features 160 acres of terrain, with 34 downhill trails and 14 mountain lifts. Non-skiers can take advantage of the snow-tubing facilities available at most of the resorts.
This Pocono Mountains area is also home to a handful of quaint little towns filled with antique shops and art galleries, including the borough of Stroudsburg, about 15 miles south of the resort. You'll also find boutique wine galleries and historical mansions tucked away on country roads.
