Ski/Snowboarding Day at Hunter Mountain

That gray stuff that collects at the curb along with garbage bags and discarded Christmas trees? You can hardly call that "snow." See what winter's all about when you join us for a romp in the good stuff with this Adventure: a full day of skiing or snowboarding in the Great Northern Catskills, with an all-area lift ticket, ski or snowboard rentals, round-trip transportation, a group lesson in December (only $20 in January and February peak season), and a hot bevvy to sweeten the deal. We'll meet at West 45th Street and 11th Avenue and board the bus for world-renowned Hunter Mountain. A two-and-a-half-hour nap later, we'll find ourselves in a winter wonderland far from the concrete sidewalks we've happily left behind. Many consider Hunter, which boasts one of the highest peaks in the Northern Catskills, to have the best ski terrain in the region--and we'll get to test that claim for ourselves. We'll suit up with our ski or snowboard gear (rentals are included for those who don't own their own), and hit one of the resort's three separate mountains. Hunter caters to skiers and riders of all abilities, so we can use our all-area lift ticket to tackle our ideal runs--a gentle slope for beginners, or one with steeps and bumps for seasoned experts. Plus, snowfall here is some of the most reliable in the East, but when Mother Nature flakes out, Hunter's got pioneering snow-making technology to pick up the slack. The early season packages include a 90-minute group ski or snowboard lesson and in the peak season, you can purchase a group lesson on your own for our special $20 group rate. When we've had our fill of the great outdoors, we'll warm up with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate as we settle back into our plush bus seats, close our eyes, and snooze on our way back to Manhattan. After a day sliding down slopes of the real stuff, we'll never consider city snow the same--then again, who would with all those pristine trails dancing in our minds.
