Choose Between Two Options

• $199 for a semiprivate PADI Open Water Diver certification course (a $575 value)
• $299 for a semiprivate PADI Open Water Diver certification course and two underwater scooter dives (a $1,025 value)

Beach Cities Scuba's semiprivate Open Water Diver course is imparted over the course of two weekends, which can be consecutive or spread out to fit each student's schedule. After a brief Wednesday-night orientation, the first weekend starts with a classroom session, which covers the basics of equipment usage and quizzes students on the favorite colors of all known fish before taking to the safe confines of a pool for five pool dives. Four subsequent dives take place in the open ocean, giving each student the chance to dive off the edge of a boat or from the beach.

Newly certified students can strut their subaqueous stuff during two dives aided by an underwater scooter. Students must provide their own mask, snorkel, logbook, glove, and fins, which can be purchased at a discount through Beach Cities Scuba's store; all training materials are theirs to keep.
