On a typical school morning at the Ocean City Mansion, innkeeper Nancy Aiken puts her multitasking skills on display. She’ll top off coffees in the dining room, put out newspapers for guests, and make sure her kids have lunch money before sending them off to the school bus on time. It’s this kind of easygoing hospitality—not unlike being at an old friend’s house—that sets apart the three-story, Victorian-era mansion, located just south of Atlantic City. From the mansion, you’re just a half-mile walk from the Ocean City boardwalk.
Crystal chandeliers and crackling fireplaces illuminate Ocean City Mansion’s uniquely designed rooms. You’ll find books and puzzles inside, one of the bed and breakfast’s many quirks. Natural light seeps into the breakfast room, where early risers can take their time eating housemade omelets, french toast, and fresh fruit, served daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Ocean City Mansion's homey charm continues in its non-suite rooms, with king or queen beds, private bathrooms, and fireplaces. The crimson-colored Richard's Quarters room has a private balcony, and couples can unwind in the Little Cabin room by settling in the two-person jacuzzi.

Compared to Atlantic City’s bright lights, the coastal resort town of Ocean City comes across as quiet and laid-back, but its boardwalk, restaurants, and art galleries still provide plenty of things to do. "It's really busy here from Memorial Day to Labor Day," says Stef Godfrey, the editor of Ocean City magazine. “But [afterward], the town takes a nice deep breath.” With nearly 8 miles of beachfront, it’s easy to see why Ocean City is popular in the summer. But wintertime activities are abundant as well, including cold-weather surfing, fishing, and crocheting wetsuits.
