Kav Theng and Van Ngo are the owners of Spoon Restaurant. Kav has many years of experience as professional chef at Plum's Bar and Grill in St. Paul, Minnesota. Van managed her parents' restaurant in downtown Minneapolis named Cali's Vietnamese Restaurant. Now, the proud owners of their very own restaurant, they are working hard to bring you the best service and best food. With the new ideas, they offer Dim Sum on weekends (Saturday and Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm). Dim Sum is a Cantonese term for a type of Chinese dish that involves small individual portions of food, usually served in a small steamer basket or on a small plate. Going for dim sum is usually known in Cantonese as going to "drink tea" (yum cha). Spoon Restaurant has a wide variety of dishes, usually several dozens. Since individual dim sum dishes are typically portioned for three to four small servings, patrons will typically order many different dishes over the course of a meal. Larger tables may even order two or three plates of a particular dish so that everyone can have a serving. Traditionally dishes may be classified as "small", "medium", "large", or special order (a menu item not typically considered dim sum fare, such as a plate of chow mein). For example, a basket of dumplings may be considered a small dish, while a bowl of congee or plate of Lo mai gai may be considered a large dish. Dishes are priced accordingly. We also offer Hot Pot daily. Hot Pot, less commonly Chinese Fondue or steamboat, refers to several East Asian varieties of stew, consisting of a simmering metal pot of stock at the center of the dining table. While the hot pot is kept simmering, ingredients are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table. Typical hot pot dishes include thinly sliced meat, leafy vegetables, mushrooms, and seafood. The cooked food is usually eaten with rice noodle or egg noodle, and a dipping sauce.THIS CERTIFICATE IS NOT VALID FOR DIM SUM.
