Family-Friendly Lodge with Indoor Water Park near Ski Resort
Once winter arrives in New York’s Finger Lakes region, the focus at Hope Lake Lodge and Conference Center turns to the nearby Greek Peak Mountain Resort, the lodge’s sister site. Hope Lake Lodge offers shuttle service to and from Greek Peak, where skiers can explore the mountain’s 32 trails, ranging from pleasant paths for beginners to steep slopes for experts. If you’re looking for a break from the slopes, visit Cascades Indoor Waterpark. Hop on one of two tube slides and you’ll wind from inside the waterpark to the hotel itself, and then back in the park again before splashing into a crystal-clear pool. There’s also a wave pool that undulates with 67,000 gallons of water. At Little Bear Falls, kids can splish-splash on a swing set or pint-size water slide. Later, you can unwind at Waterfalls Spa, where the service menu includes naturally infused hydrotherapy and Vichy treatments.
The resort resembles an alpine lodge with a crackling, 40-foot-tall stone fireplace and walls made of thick timber. Suites are trimmed with knotted-wood accents and are equipped with full kitchens and a flat-screen TVs. In the morning, visit the Acorn Grill for farm-fresh eggs, scrumptious cinnamon rolls, and other breakfast fare.

Upstate New York's Finger Lakes region is known for its long, thin lakes and more than 1,000 waterfalls that cut through the area's famous rocky gorges. About 25 miles west of the resort lies Ithaca, which borders the longest of the Finger Lakes, Cayuga Lake, and is home to Ithaca Falls. At more than 100 feet high, the falls cascade down a terraced cliff. Ithaca is also where Cornell University is located. Like many of the villages in the area, Ithaca has a walkable downtown filled with bistros, boutiques, and taverns housed in historical buildings.
