During the 7- to 10-minute outpatient all-laser LASIK procedure, a machine maps out the interiors of each eye before creating a small flap in the cornea. A computer-guided laser then restructures the cornea to improve its ability to focus incoming light on the retina. The session is designed to improve a range of visual imparities, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Dr. Neel R. Desai, a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, walks each patient through each step of the procedure as it happens so that they know what to anticipate and know where they are in the process. A viewing window overlooks the treatment room so that friends and family can watch. Should patients' prescriptions change in the future, The Weinstock Laser Eye Center will cover any necessary enhancements at no additional cost.
