Stand-up comedians typically draw from real life, such as bad relationships or how the zoo is crazy. Life's a riot with this GrouponLive deal to see a show on the United Nations Comedy Stage, part of the Vancouver Comedy and Arts Fest at Lafflines Comedy Club. For $16, you get one general-admission ticket to one of the following performances (up to a $31.25 value, including all fees):
- Kyle Dunnigan on Thursday, February 7, at 8 p.m.
- Matt Kirshen on Friday, February 8, at 8 p.m. or 10:30 p.m.
- Wil Anderson on Saturday, February 9, at 8 p.m. or 10:30 p.m.
- Carmen Lynch on Thursday, February 14, at 8 p.m.
- Joseph List on Friday, February 15, at 8 p.m. or 10:30 p.m.
Kyle Dunnigan
Fans of Reno 911! may recognize Kyle Dunnigan as Craig, the late husband of Deputy Wiegel who, incidentally, was also the Truckee River Killer. Then again, they might not—the rubber-faced comedian effortlessly disappears into his characters.
Warning: contains foul language and the implication of nude feet
Matt Kirshen
On his 2009 album, I Guess We’ll Never Know, Londoner Kirshen demonstrated a knack for savvy political observations and delivering multiple punch lines for each joke.
Wil Anderson
An award-winning comic and television host from Australia, Anderson spares no one from his acerbic wit.
Warning: contains foul language and an unforgiving approach to natural selection
Carmen Lynch
Seen on The Late Show with David Letterman, Last Comic Standing, and her own webseries, Apt. C3.
Warning: Contains foul language
Joseph List
Since arriving to Boston’s comedy scene, Joseph List has honed a self-deprecating style both brainy and down to earth, perhaps best captured by his online persona, The Ultimate Worrier.
Vancouver Comedy & Arts Fest
A comedy institution since 2004, the Vancouver Comedy & Arts Fest amasses up-and-coming talent alongside established stars for a festive celebration of the international comedy circuit and the guts it has busted. Set against the city’s majestic backdrop, the 10-day humour retreat has attracted many of today’s biggest comedy stars, along with the forefathers who set the stage for modern stand-ups. Past acts have included luminaries such as Steve Martin, Zach Galifianakis, Carol Burnett, and Flight of the Conchords.
Lafflines Comedy Club
Built as the Columbia Theatre in 1927, Lafflines Comedy Club has undergone major renovations to return it to the stunning glory of its vaudevillian years. In the lobby, gold ceiling trim recreates the original fixtures, surrounding an atmospheric fresco that depicts the sky and clouds to keep avian guests from feeling claustrophobic. Similarly, the Baby Grand room where the comedians perform has been refurbished with a baby-blue acoustic ceiling treatment.
