I have shopped at Amazon for six years and never had a problem with any order. Shipping is fast (especially with books), pricing is very competitive (when items are sold by Amazon & not third pary sellers) and their price protection policy (30 days from order date they will credit the difference in price if an item you buy is sold by Amazon at a lower price) is fantastic. I have used this feature several times and their customer service was excellent.
I have made a few purchases from third party sellers with no problem but I always look for Amazon sold items first. Shipping can get expensive with third party sellers.
I ordered a MOvado watch for Christmas from Amazon . On Decemcber 9. ( brand new 478$). I received it 2 days before Christmas the watch was not working and scratched ( probably someone returned it). The Christmas present already ruined. I asked Amazon to replace it and they navigated to their site where the same watch was sold for 875 dollars. I asked them to preplace it at the original price the would not do it. I am very unhappy with them they ruined my Christmas gift and wanted me to pay 400 extra dollars for the same item. Think before you order !!!!

I did not have a great December with Amazon. Some of my Christmas gifts ordered 12/13 have yet to arrive. Amazon says it was lost in shipping so they are re-sending. On a previous order of 12/7 the company sent the wrong product stating Amazon had the error and not them. Let me tell you...there is a HUGE difference in ordering a 15" Color TV/DVD combo and receiving a 5" B/W tv with built in radio for $135.00.

Amazon rocks! I use them first for everything, unless they dont have what I want in stock. Love the no questions asked return policy and reviews. Even if something might cost a little more I would still rather use Amazon because of their great service.

This is my first time ordering from Amazon.com, and it has been PITIFUL: 12/8: Placed order 12/13: Amazon.com claims to have shipped my order and USPS has been notified that the information has been transferred 12/20: Still waiting for it to move. I'm assuming that it's still somewhere in the warehouse.
I would suggest using Buy.com instead -- I placed an order on the 6th and all of it arrived in the span of approximately one week.
I've had GREAT experience w/Amazon for several years. But a recent error between online check-out and email confirmation leaves me questioning recent changes. Promotion appeared online, but not in email confirmation. Amazon Customer Service is now via phone or email form which may take a couple days (cutting costs?). When inquired via email form, a day or two later they gave assurance that everything was fine. Not positive they actually understood I inquired again. A day or two later: yes promotion is valid. Inquire about email confirmation. Another day or two response: that promotion is now over, sorry. I suggested they they actual read & understand inquiry before responding w/assurances that things were fine; maybe some sort of live chat would be convenient. Again, response was: Sorry promotion is now over... regret we are unable to address your concerns, and will not be able to offer any additional insight or action on these matters; hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Sorry, but if there are ANY issues w/future purchases, I plan on CANCELING.

In the past month or so, I've placed 4 direct orders from Amazon, including purchasing a digital camera and SD cards for it. Everything has gone very well. Besides competitive pricing, Amazon offers very accurate order status information at their website, and their outstanding customer service has made me a fan. In the past month they have refunded price declines 4 times for me already, and given me 2 gift certificates for "inconveniences" that I would not have given a second thought.
Granted, I haven't encountered a product problem yet, but I'm pretty optimistic about continuing to buy directly from Amazon (although I'd instinctively exercise caution when buying from some of their third-party sellers). I've had 4 good transaction experiences, and excellent responses to politely-worded service requests. Every shopping experience should be like these.

I purchase Tag watch from Amazon as a birthday gift for my boy friend, and the night we receive this watch, packing was nice but when he try to setup the time , the Crown fall off , and not workable when we put it back on!!
I write to customer service (several times), no reply!! and I called customer service, first they told me will send me the replacement, but I got no email or tracking information for several hrs, so I called again, and this time they told me Jewelry and watches (cost more then $300)can't get replacement, I have to return the damage watch for refund, and re-order again!!!
So I did , but when I try to click return label from Amazon.com, guess what? they won't give you a return label, they ask you to pay for it first-by insured shipping , and said they will refund the cost later.
I hade it with Amazon, and can only hope I get my refund and the re-order watch is not damage again!!!!!!!!
