I chose Ascendtech because of their great ratings

on great ratings and on eBay. In terms of the

computers, I cannot provide a review. The only

thing I can tell you is that their sales team is

very knowledgeable about up to date computer

parts. I used the online chat in order to ask a

question about a particular part and whether

there was a potential conflict I needed a

replacement Dell board which required a specific

bios revision to work corectly, and he directed

me to the 1-800 number without any pretense of

being able to answer my question.

I ultimately ordered online and was pleasantly

surprised by the ease and speed of ordering. The

board arrived and again to my surprise worked

flawlessly. ( I bought the same board before

from another vendor and it did not work in my PC)

although it seemed to work independently. To sum

it up, Ascendtech folks saved my main business

computer. I was ready to give up and scrap it

but they provided an easy to implement solution

which worked as they promised.

Thanks guys!

DO NOT BUY HERE!!!!

Read all of the garbage below about this company. I would welcome a Class Action Suit against these guys if every one ever screwed by these guys want to get on board. They should be shut down.

Read some of their LAME excuses below. I will save you the time of scanning through everything;

--------------------------------------------------
"RAM got damaged in transit" Only one stick? Nothing else? Not likely!

-------------------------------------------------
I am going to take this up with the BBB in NJ and also in Ohio. They should not be allowed to get away with this kind of misrepresentation. BUYERS BEWARE!! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!
--------------------------------------------------
By far the worst online experience ever. The only time they care is if you leave a negative feedback on eBay.
--------------------------------------------------
DO NOT use AscendTech.us to buy computer parts from. They are a joke of a company with really horrible customer service.
--------------------------------------------------
Regretfully, I also left positive feedback before I received the faulty computer.
--------------------------------------------------
Buyer beware. The PC I received had a USED hard drive that had messages in the Windows error log indicating imminent failure. I sent the hard drive back and received another USED hard drive. They use USED parts -- beware!
--------------------------------------------------
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--------------------------------------------------
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These guys sell REFURBISHED WD Raptor drives on eBay, and conveniently fail to spell out the fact that they are refurbished ANYWHERE in the item description, or anywhere else for that matter.

And BTW, "AsendTech" listing the drives as "OEM" does NOT indicate they are refurbished. Do you guys even KNOW what OEM means?

You might want to stop misleading eBay customers before you find yourselves speaking with Attorneys General from various states... just a little tip.
--------------------------------------------------
I was informed that I will be charged a 20% processing fee for an order that did not even ship. On top of everything, it turns out that the drive they are selling is an OEM drive, with 30 days warranty, and NO manufacturer warranty. This was not advertised on their web page! I would expect them to say that they item is OEM and does NOT have the manufacturer warranty!

All in all, a very frustrating experience, I do NOT recommend them to anybody else. Be wary that low prices as always mean low quality service!
--------------------------------------------------
It turned out my memory was defective after all (ON A NEW COMPUTER?)
--------------------------------------------------
AscendTech is a warehouse operation of con men. I cringe at the though that you have my credit care number on file. Have you ever heard of the Federal Trade Commission? Or the Ohio States Attorney Generals Office?
--------------------------------------------------
So to date (this all started Oct 2006) Ascendtech has double payment from me and I don't have anything except a nonpayment dispute, a nonpayment strike and negative feedback from them. Now that I am confident that I paid (twice infact) I have opened up mediation through eBay. I am requesting all my money back plus the money order fees plus shipping, as well as the mediation fees. I also which to cancel the order for the sound card and have them remove their negative feedback. I will not be removing mine.
--------------------------------------------------
He was intially trying to be helpful but quickly became nasty and told me they would not be sending me a replacement - that they didn't want to do business with me because I left them bad feedback and they would give me a full refund "IF" I removed my bad feedback. WTF?!? So, if you want to use these posers go right ahead but don't be surprised when things go bad that they blame you and try to manipulate you to further their own business.
--------------------------------------------------
When it comes to Ascendtech, it seems that the customer is always wrong.
--------------------------------------------------
First and LAST purchase from AscendTech.

15 days from order to ship. That is TOTALLY unacceptable.

Prices are good, but having to wait more than two weeks for the order to even ship is so not worth it.

Further, when telephoning inquring as to my order status, I was treated with indifference, the attitude was essentially "oh well, that's tough buddy".

I will never shop there again.
--------------------------------------------------
Do NOT order from this company. They are a rip-off!
--------------------------------------------------
AVOID THIS COMPANY. I’ve got a defective merchandise, and requested an RMA number in order to process a return. Here is the reply I’ve got: “Pursuant to our terms of sale, the original shipping charges are non refundable and a 20% cancellation and restocking fee will be debited from your refund amount.” That’s nice - a 20% restocking fee + original shipping charges for the non-working product, which is against the law anyway. I sent the package back to them. On the day of delivery (Thanks god I paid extra for a tracking number) got an email from them that implies they haven’t received the package: “It is my understanding that you were issued a return authorization so please send the drive back per the instructions.” I haven’t received any refund and had to go through the credit company to get the money back. The case is still pending… If you don’t want to deal with the same issues buy from someone else.
--------------------------------------------------
Placed an order on Monday hoping it would ship this week. It is Thursday and several attempts to email have gone unanswered and the websites status for orders has not been working. Several attempts to call them and there is no answer at all! My credit card has not been processed yet. Placed an order on a Monday hoping to have it on a Friday. Ohio is a 2 day shipping from me in Iowa. Frustrated and in need of my scsi controller right now. Do not place an order with this company if you want it right away and you want something with customer service. As said below. Buyer beware.
--------------------------------------------------
Called them back, to explain the filthy cable they said the box was opened for inpsection (well, if the TV is inspected, how could no one see that giant dead pixel??)
First time and last time buying from these folk!
Ascendtech = sucks!!!
--------------------------------------------------
Wish I'd seen this site before ordering from AscendTech, scam e-biz.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

A slimline cd/dvd to ide converter kit took 14 days with FedEx.
Opened the package and only found the converter piece, no kit,
no paper or instructions, the converter had bent pins. Not only is the advertising misleading, but it's a scam operation, plain and simple. Everything about their business is false! I used PriceWatch
and decided to go ahead with the purchase because there were good
reviews, false reviews. I've already called several times,
no answer. I've sent one email explaing the fact they are
fraud, but the reply was a casual, 'I'll forward your problem to my
boss'. Liars. What they sent me for $30, which is unusable, is
sold on other websites for less than $20, including shipping!
--------------------------------------------------
Wishing I had found "dugsplace"'s comments earlier. It appears that the folks at AscendTech may be loading the other review boards with false positive reviews, since I cannot reach any of those people who posted them via email.
--------------------------------------------------
cancelled the order and did not pay the restocking fee!

They are misleading customers with their adds on pricewatch and ripping people off by sending them lesser systems.

BEWARE!!!
--------------------------------------------------
OKAY. I THINK YOU GET THE DRIFT OF THESE GUYS.

I am sorry I did not post all of them, I the novelty has worn off. SUE THESE GUYS!!!

JUNE 29, 2010 I get this email from them:

1. UPS processed the claim. Once we receive a check from them we will issue you a refund (should be done within 3-5 days)

As you can see by the two posts below this, it has been quite a long time.

I am still waiting!

SmarterThanaBrick - Tuesday, June 29th 2010 10:31 PM
06/09/2010 MY EMAIL TO THEM:

Hi,

I am still waiting for delivery of my order. I took the day off, since you did not know how to send to a secure address without ME doing all of your work, and have not seen hide nor hair of my order.

Oh, UPS claims that they left it on my porch. NOPE! Of course my porch is 50 feet from the street in a 'NOT SO GOOD' area of town, with nothing of obstruct the view of a package. UPS claims they delivered the package just before three yesterday. NOPE! The door was open with a full glass storm door and me sitting just inside of the door.

In short - WHERE IS MY SHIPMENT?

I will be back in my office tomorrow from 10:00AM to 6:00PM. I expect a call at 405-XXX-XXXX from you to explain how you are either going to ship my order to a secure address or refund my money,

Regards,

-------------------------------------------------
06/10/2010 RESPONSE:
UPS records indicate this package was already delivered.
-------------------------------------------------
06/10/2010 MY REPLY:

YES THANK YOU.

Now that we have established we both can read the UPS website, and you did not bother to read my entire email. Where is the package?

Allow me to reiterate, though our friends at UPS “CLAIM” to have left the package on the porch, there is no such package.

Therefore, one of two things must happen;
1. A refund
2. Ship to a secure address as originally asked.

Since you failed to telephone me yesterday at the number provided to talk about this issue; today I am in my home office and you may reach me at 405-xxx-xxxx.

Regards,
-------------------------------------------------
6/10/2010 THEY SAID:
The one thing that will happen in this case is, our company will file a claim with UPS for lost package. Once the claim is processed and approved you will receive your refund or a new package will be mailed to you whichever one you prefer. Claim will be filed today.

BUYER BE WARE!

I have been waiting for over 25 days for merchandise or a refund. I get the run around. I will be posting their LAME excuses.

I cannot come right out and say it, but picture a horse walking away from you. Got that picture? That is who you are dealing with!

I ordered a new motherboard from ascendtech on 12/16/2009 ($40 plus $10 shipping).
After installing it, the PC would lock-up after 2-3 minutes.
I assumed I had another problem with something else in my 2004 Compaq PC.
It took me 6 weeks and an additional $125 (new hard drive, new power supply, new CPU and a restore disk) to find that the problem still existed.
After much hair pulling I just happened to catch a reflection off of the CPU socket and noticed 5-6 bent pins.

I am in the process of trying to get ascendtech to replace the motherboard.
They say that since the 30 days have passed they will not replace it.
I say that it took me 6 weeks to trouble shoot the problem and they should stand behind their products.
Then they claimed that I did the damage.
Well I know how to properly handle a motherboard, remove and install a CPU. I use a static wrist strap and the best silver thermal paste (irrelevant to this motherboard problem, but demonstrates my care an knowledge of PC repair).

I wish I would have done a search of ascendtech complaints before handing over my money to them. There are sure a lot us unhappy folks out there who are not been happy with ascendtech.

Don't buy from Ascendtech! Their support really plain sucks. Check this out! We purchased over $300.00 worth of new gear from them around Christmas. A new motherboard and some ram. Everything arrived just fine, but when we installed the motherboard and ram, one stick of ram failed. We called Ascendtech and they said that something must have happened to the ram in transit. Yea right! Impossible, as ram is always packed quite nicely from the manufacturer. It was just faulty, so no big deal right! Well, that is what we thought. We figured they would simply send us some new ram and provide an RMA for the the faulty ram. That is what Tiger Direct would do... Not so! Ascendtech said that we must pay the shipping back to them for the faulty part and eat the cost! Well, I already paid for shipping when I purchased the product in the first place. Why should anyone pay shipping once again for a faulty return item. It is not the cost that bothers me, just their return policy. If you purchase something from them and it proves faulty. You will need to pay to send the faulty item back to them. Crazy! Does the Mfr charge them for returns of faulty product? Get this, Ascendtech said the product was good when they shipped it to us because that they test all of their products before shipping. Big "ridiculous" lie. I asked them if they open the Mfr motherboard packaging up and set the boards up in a chassis to test! The idiot at Asendtech just stopped talking at that point. Again, stupid! They did send us new ram and everything worked great once installed. I told them I would never purchase from them again. They told me, that they did not want me as a customer. Why, because I questioned their crappy return policy. I promised them I would let folks know about this. With so many places to purchase computer gear, why would you choose Ascendtec? Buyer Beware!

halkelley - Thursday, November 5th 2009 11:57 AM
this is the WORST company I have EVER ordered from...I would NEVER do business with them again...I ordered a video card (FX5200)...they send me what they say is an FX5200, but the card has no VGA connector...it has a single connector which, after a lot of research, I find out is a DMS-59 connector (which no one has EVER heard of)...they won't take it back...I called my credit card company to dispute the charge...ascendtech then calls me at home (which the credit card company said was VERY improper of them) and says they are going to report me for "theft"...I would NEVER deal with this company
