DO NOT use AscendTech.us to buy computer parts from. They are a joke of a company with really horrible customer service.

I ordered 2 cooling fans for my computer. They were the only place that listed the specific fan that my computer needs. So, I ordered 2 so I would have a backup. Came out to a little over 40 bucks with shipping. Not bad seeing as how nobody else has this fan.

The box arrived and I open it up. I found junk inside the box. Looked like somebodies used computer parts. There were fans in the box, yes. But not only were they scratched to hell and beat up, the fans had a thin layer of dirt and dust stuck to them like they had been used for a while. The thermal grease on the bottom had been scraped off. You could tell it was scraped off because the bottoms were all scratched up. And, these weren't even the fans I ordered. Looking nothing like what they listed on the website.

So, I call them. They put me on hold, which eventually lead to 15 minutes of me sitting there just so they can hang up on me. I call back and they dont answer. I call again and get a busy signal.

So then, I sent them an email. I get a response saying that they will forward my email to the proper dept.

2 weeks go by and nothing. What is the proper dept? I dont have any idea.

So, I resent my email to every email address that I could find for their company.

Finally, a response. They told me to send the package back. So, I did. I let them know that I shipped it back and shared the tracking number with them.

Then they have the nerve to tell me to put some RMA number on the package or they wont accept it. Could have told me that before I sent the box of junk back! If they dont accept the box, it will have been cheaper for me to just keep the box of junk and cut my losses.

Jan 4, 2008, I ordered $295 computer. Computer randomly shutdown and restarted. After numerous contacts with tech support and no fix forthcoming I opted to return computer for a refund. After deducting restocking fees my refund was $208. In the end, I paid $119 for nothing (restocking fee and shipping both times). Their restocking fee for faulty merchandise is unreasonable. Also note: AscendTech's high rating is primarily due to them providing a worthless 45 day return period (instead of 7 days) if you leave positive feedback before the order is shipped. Regretfully, I also left positive feedback before I received the faulty computer.

Buyer beware. The PC I received had a USED hard drive that had messages in the Windows error log indicating imminent failure. I sent the hard drive back and received another USED hard drive. They use USED parts -- beware!

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These guys sell REFURBISHED WD Raptor drives on eBay, and conveniently fail to spell out the fact that they are refurbished ANYWHERE in the item description, or anywhere else for that matter.

And BTW, "AsendTech" listing the drives as "OEM" does NOT indicate they are refurbished. Do you guys even KNOW what OEM means?

You might want to stop misleading eBay customers before you find yourselves speaking with Attorneys General from various states... just a little tip.

I placed an order for a WD Raptor, that seemed like a good price. Right after placing the order, I realized that the model I was ordering was not exactly what I wanted (I was looking for the ADFD, and they had the AHFD). After a couple email exchanges, I was informed that I will be charged a 20% processing fee for an order that did not even ship. On top of everything, it turns out that the drive they are selling is an OEM drive, with 30 days warranty, and NO manufacturer warranty. This was not advertised on their web page! I would expect them to say that they item is OEM and does NOT have the manufacturer warranty!

All in all, a very frustrating experience, I do NOT recommend them to anybody else. Be wary that low prices as always mean low quality service!

My computer works very well! I bought a C2D 6600 running at 2.4G and have it running at 3.3G steady and on air.

I had considered computers from other online vendors but www.asendtech.us provided a great combination of value and customization. Alex was very helpful during the ordering process. When he had ideas about certain components, he respectfully shared them. There was no pressure at all.

Soon after placing the order I decided to change a few components. I called Alex who helped me make changes. The components I wanted were out of stock, but Alex had it overnighted from their supplier, so that they could continue building my system without any delays.

I also decided to upgrade my power supply. I'd upgraded the power supply then did some last minute reading to realize that I wanted a different one. Another quick email and shortly thereafter I received my updated invoice showing the correct change.

In between ordering and the start of the build, I was able to log in to the AscendTech site and see progress in the build (from ordered to processing to shipping). While there wasn't a lot of information during the processing stage, it was very helpful to be able to communicate with Alex during the build.

When I'd placed my order, I'd emphasized that I was going on vacation out of the country and would be unable to take delivery for another two weeks thereafter. I emailed Alex explaining him about my travel dates and he reassured me that all will be fine. The machine was set to be finished burn-in on Monday. I was tempted to spring for expedited shipping, but Alex assured me that UPS would make the transit from OH to IL in one day. He was right.

I picked up the machine at the depot because I didn't want it bouncing around on my local guy's truck (I've since found out he could make a special drop-off of something like this computer once in a while which proved handy on another purchase!). There were two boxes: a heavy-duty exterior box and an interior box (the original Thermaltake case box). Both of them were punctured as if the box had been smashed down on a sharp corner. The exterior box was taped. So I was nervous pulling the machine from the box but delighted to see no obvious problems.

The computer was so well packaged I was amaized. There was styrofoam all around the computer and what seems like custom molded foam on all edges of the machine. The inner box contained more styrophoam protecting the computer.

My new monster booted perfectly straight out of the box. I've overclocked to 3.4 stable and hope that I should be able to get 3.5. An excellent value!

I have since called tech support several times to ask on suggestions on various upgrades. Each time I was on hold less then a minute, and had all of my questions answered promptly. I was unable to get a rep once, but was promised a call back which happened sooner then I expected. Overall the system works great and the price was the lowest all around, (Believe me I do my homework when I shop).
