I just placed my fourth order with ELF. My first two orders were perfect, the shipping was fast and there were no problems with the product. The third order, one product had leaked during shipping. I sent them an e-mail and they sent me a replacement product right away. I'm really happy with 80% of the products I've tried, and so far their shipping and customer service have been great. The under eye concealer/highlighter duo is an absolute steal- great product and only $3 if you don't have a coupon code.

Just to update on this merchant: shipping has gotten much better- both in terms of quality and in terms of allotted time to receive the order. They've also recently gotten their warehousing system up to speed (I guess...lol). I am very happy with the changes.

They do not have real-time product inventory, so when your order is shipped, sometimes half of the items in your order will be missing from the box, while your credit card is STILL charged for them. This is unacceptable, for they do not refund the charged amount, even though the product is still not in stock two months later. Their customer service will give you the runaround in trying to get your money back.

I first ordered from ELF right when they were starting to get popular, probably 1.5 years ago. The shipping was like, three bucks I think, and I had no problems with their site, and was excited to try the makeup out since it was so cheap. It came pretty quickly, and I would say 75% of it was pretty good! A good portion of their brushes are great for their price, particularly the foundation brush. After probably 9-12 months a couple of the brushes fell apart on me, but overall, if you take care of them, they're GREAT for the cheap price.

The worst thing was their 'foundation' which is a stinky, goopy, mess. Don't waste your time. Most of their lip products are great! Also, surprisingly, I love most of their eye shadow colors, and the pigment is pretty good, particularly if you use a base. So, for one dollar, I think they're a good deal overall.

I just placed a second order since they sent me a free 15 dollar gift card, and we will see how it goes now.

I got my order on time, they were out of stock on 2 items...they did not bill me for those items... as a matter fact they did not bill me until a couple days after my order.. they also sent me a free gift..my packaging was in good shape.they were very good...Kimm 9-11-07

I ordered in Jan 2007. Their brushes are good quality. The makeup bags I ordered for $5 each didn't have a gusset, so they were about as useful as a grade school pencil bag! The lipgloss was great. I'm undecided about the other cosmetics b/c they were such tiny qty, I felt pretty bad about how much trash those mini cosmetics generated and I'm not sure they were a better deal than the ubiquitous drug store bogo sales.

I found their contact info quite readily both here and on their site. Customer service is HORRIBLE though. Maybe it's a cultural misunderstanding (NJ), but these folks are very rude and unhelpful. I felt like I called and interrupted a teen who was on the other line. Very snotty and rude CSR. They did finally resolve my order problem, but not before taking a couple of weeks, referring me to a toll number, and making me feel like garbage!

My order of over a dozen items arrived in thin paper 8x11 bubble envelope which literally fell apart when I touched it. Some of the items arrived open torn from being piled into such an inadequate package.

Overall, the site format is horrible. Customer service is horrible. I noticed the shipping fees have changed, so maybe their use of envelopes has too?? The product is decent with some of the brushes/tools being an exceptional bargain. Order at your own risk and well in advance of needing the item.

I think the products themselves are ok, but this company SUCKS! Their fulfillment and delivery time are ridiculous! I received my order (FINALLY) only to discover that 10 items were missing because they were out of stock! This would have been acceptable if the company had notified me the items were out of stock and given me the option to select something else, or not charge me for the items. However, they charged me the full cost (even for the items they did not ship) AND the full shipping cost. There was a note in my shipment, WRITTEN IN PENCIL NO LESS, that any items out of stock would be refunded. Its been two months since I ordered, no products have been received to date, and no refund, no credit to my account, no credit to my card. Website gives no company contact information whatsoever, so getting in touch with them is next to impossible! For the $10 I lost, I could have purchased more expensive products, or dealt with a more reliable company. There is NO WAY I will ever deal with ELF again! I don't care if they GIVE their stuff away!

I don't think I have ever had a worse experience dealing with a company in my life. I placed my order in October as part of a special promotion they were having. I did not receive until mid-late November and they sent me someone else's order! I called and was told that someone would be calling me back and that I would get a replacement. I sent an email in to give some alternate telephone numbers, and was told that I would be getting a refund within 2 weeks as the items were out of stock. I looked on their website, and all my items were in order under a new promotion, so I sent an email stating I was going to contact the NY State Attorney General's office in addition to the Better Business Bureau. They responded back to call their 800#. I did and I was on hold forever. Woman on line knew nothing about any status update and said they would send out replacement. I just sent in another email asking them to cancel my order and give me a refund.

I am also going to be writing those letters this weekend. I had initially purchased an ELF product at Target and loved the low price and quality, but it is DEFINITELY not worth the hassle going directly through the company on this brand.

Without exaggeration, my purchase with E.L.F. has been my worst e-commerce experience ever. Their purchasing system was difficult to navigate, slow to load, and failed to confirm my order and send notification. This resulted in duplicate orders that was I unaware existed until some had been shipped and charged. Two have been sent, with full charges even though approximately 30% of the items were out of stock and not included in the shipment.
Product fulfillment has been unacceptable. The items listed as being shipped did not match the contents of the box - items were missing. One item in the duplicate box was damaged.
Customer service has been unresponsive and unacceptable, despite my repeated requests to cancel the duplicate orders and provide satisfactory information how to return the unwanted merchandise.

I've ordered from E.L.F. before & it took awhile to get the products. I just tried to place another order & it wouldn't go through. It just kept saying that it would to 3 weeks to process but never actually let me finish checking out. I've hear other people say the same thing about the site. Poor website maintainance.
