I decided to forgo the robotic rating system in favor of rating it by words, because the categories were totally inadequate to tell you what happened on my last order.
It was a nightmare.
Price was a 10.
Web site usability was a 10.
Product selection is where it gets sticky. I've ordered from them a few times before. It can be a 10 and often is when they have the media in stock, but the problem started with telling me it was on backorder when it appeared to be in stock, and got a lot worse from there.
Product information was 10.
You would think based on that, worst case scenario they would get a 7.5 out of 10 because the system is geared to show off their strengths and hide their weaknesses. But I won't play that game.
7.5 is WAY TOO HIGH of a rating considering what I went through on this order.
They told me this would be backordered a few days after I placed my order the first week of September. OK, minor inconvenience. They didn't charge my card at least.
However, they finally charged my card on 9/23 and said it would take up to 10 business days to reach me. 10 days came and went, and they said they could do nothing for me until 10/13 (yesterday). They put another order through on backorder yesterday. Meanwhile, I get the first CD that I thought got lost in the mail today.
It came in probably the flimsiest packaging I ever saw (a very thin plastic tray that was frankly weaker than the plastic bag it was in). The case was badly cracked and I haven't opened it yet - debating whether I should.
Thing about this is, even on the worst of days (blizzard right before Christmas) nothing takes three weeks shipping from Illinois to Colorado.
You could just about walk that distance in less time than that.
I will soon find out, but my suspicions are they are billing far sooner than they are actually shipping.
If so, that's a violation of the rules of the card issuing company (in this case VISA). They say you cannot bill in advance of shipping - even one day.
I'll keep you posted. My girlfriend works for the business mail section of USPS (which is how this got sent). Unfortunately for DeepDiscount.com, I can uncover a dirty secret if there is one.

An update to my last review directly below.
I send them an email telling them to cancel my order because, after a month, I still have not received the Blu-Ray I ordered. All my information from my previous emails was attached. I get a message saying to resubmit my personal information (!) What is wrong with their email system???
After resubmitting everything (again) I was told the item I ordered was sent via media mail over 20 days ago. I deal with eBay and half.com a lot and while media mail is slow, it has never taken 20 days to receive an item from a seller... until now.

A horrible experience in general.
Thanks to FW members I placed an order for a Blu-Ray disc. I saw a posting saying it was OOS yet when checking the site I saw it was still available to purchase so I did. On the plus site, you don't have to set up an account with them if you use paypal. On the minus side, if you use anything else you do, you can't just check out as a guest.
Days go by and I don't get even an order confirmation. I send an email with all my information, including paypal information. A day later I get a response and customer service punted simply because I didn't include my address. I resubmit everything WITH my address. Still takes another day. Finally get a response that they're OOS. No estimate on when they will get the item back in stock and they never offered to cancel the order either. Fortunately they don't actually charge until the order is shipped.
Maybe I'm spoiled by Amazon but I found the entire process unacceptable. Too much hassle to purchase a single item, not even an acknowledgment that the order was received, and their website doesn't operate with real-time inventory so you never know if the item you are purchasing is in stock. I won't be using them in the future.

I had placed an order on 3 weeks ago, but never received my order. Emailed them about my order, but get no reply.

Have been buying most of my DVDs from this company for the last couple years. A couple times I've rec'd a DVD that was scratched b/c it was floating in the case. And once I got the wrong box set, but they've always sent me a pre-paid label to return for a replacement so it wasn't a big deal.
Nowadays I only buy from them and Amazon. DDD doesn't always have the lowest price, but they're one of the best when it comes to free shipping, low prices, no sales tax and wide selection.

I've placed about 10 orders from DDD over 3 years. They sent me the wrong item once, and I kept it because it cost twice as much as what I ordered. I'm sure they would have replaced it hassle-free.
The real problem with this company is that about 50% of what I order arrives damaged due to extemely poor packing. Items frequently arrive crushed; they pack heavy plastic-cased box sets on top of delicate cardboard sets. Even the plastic cases regularly arrive cracked with the DVD spindle broken. Loose DVDs everywhere. Almost everything arrives with at least one corner dinged. What bothers me most is that these items sometimes leave the warehouse in unacceptable shape. I ordered Ghost in the Shell SAC Season 1, and it arrived with the DVD set's cardboard case torn in a few places with the shrinkwrap fully in tact. If you like your DVD box sets to look new when you buy them, avoid deepdiscountdvd.com. You'll be better off paying a few more dollars at Best Buy.
They are good to replace items, so don't get me wrong. Just ask yourself if it worth the trouble to save a few dollars.

Placed a multi-dvd order ($100+) that arrived in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, all but one of the dvds sent were incorrect. Emailed them about the error and they sent a return label. Wisely bought delivery confirmation. Two weeks have passed and still no credit. Two phone calls to customer service reps claim they haven't gotten the package. Bad luck for them the delivery receipt says they've already received it. Still waiting for credit. Check out resellerratings. Their service has slipped. Most unfortunate. Buyer beware!

DeepDiscountDVD is a great source for DVD's at usually competitive prices. I've never had a problem with the customer service or with an order, and I've used them for years. I definitely like the free shipping the best. Just knowing that free shipping on everything is always available makes price comparisons much easier.

DDD is a spammer. I am still receiving multiple emails from them every week despite multiple requests to unsubscribe. I will not be doing business with them again.
