Do not purchase anything from Linens n Things during they going out of business sale. I posted this on the forum describing the great sale. It is no deal. I ordered $150 of merchandise. They only shipped $110 of merchandise, claiming that they shipped the whole thing. This is after 10 days of emailing them back and forth. Initially they told me they would fix this. Then they came back and refused to. |

After reading some of the comments on Linens n things i felt the need to respond. I have worked in retail for 13 years and i worked for LNT for 6 yrs. I do understand and apologize to anyone who received less than standard service from store staff. not to make excuses but perhaps the staff person was short answered or less than willing to help for different reasons, most of them having nothing to do with you. please understand i no longer work for them. to directly respond to one persons comment; the manager may have been the cashier if the cashier called out and there was no one else to ring. LNT's registers have limited overide capabilities. it will not let you give Cash Back on a gift card unless the remaining balance goes under $1.00 and that is set in the register and can not be changed. As for any rebate complaints. Rebates are offered by the manufacturers of products. if the manufacturer does not process it themselves they pay a rebate company to handle them. LNT has nothing to do with rebates other than hand them out when a customer wants it. As for coupons being used on the LNT website, the website only allows for 1 coupon to be redeemed per order; the coupon must be valid not expired and can not be used on anything that is in the exclusions on the bottom of the coupon. All of this is set by the corporate office and not by individual stores, next time you gripe about a company policy dont gripe about the employee just following the policy- this goes for any company. if you place an order online for instore pickup it could be cancelled for several reasons. if you order more than 1 item and 1 item is not available the entire order gets cancelled. if it is a popular item over a holiday weekend they are not required to make it available for instore pickup do to high demand of walk in purchases of the item. and in stock refers to the corporate ability to see store stock which is never 100% accuratdue to it does not update instantly after a purchase. |

Recieved a rebate postcard notice that my rebate is invalid because purchase date on the receipt is missing! A copy of that receipt I have clearly shows the purchase date! Also my son purchased the same item and he received the same invalid postcard at his house! I wonder who else received the same no date postcard? One way to get out of paying rebates! |

This is what happened the other day, and this is the email I sent thier "Customer Service" department...
I have just had the WORST experience at your store in Sarasota, the one in Pelican Plaza. I work for Bed Bath and Beyond and one day we had a customer that -insisted- we take her LNT gift card and she was very upset. In order to make our customer happy, we took it and let her know LNT and BBB are not the same company to avoid confusion in the future. Today I went to the store and purchased a few items and went to pay with the gift cards the woman had. After used $153.47 I had $4.53 left on a gift card. I did not need it and asked to have Cash Back. I explained to DONALD BENTLEY What had happened and he did not seem to care at all. Now, I know that at our store, if an associate from LNT came in with this situation we would have GLADLY given them 4.53 back in cash and thanked them for taking care of THEIR customers in their store, but it's sad to see that this would not happen at LNT. I asked to speak to the manager, and he told me he was. I'm not sure why a store manager would be the cashier for the day. I was not happy. I told him that at BBB we are very customer friendly and we would have done this SIMPLE THING for them without ANY PROBLEM. He grinned smugly and told me that "No they would not have. I tried it before". I'm sorry, but I work for BBB and yes we would have.. If we were willing to take a LNT Gift Card to make OUR CUSTOMER happy, why would we not give the customer 4.53 back? This is rediculas. Also on my receipt it showed that he used one gift card for 100.00- which is correct, and then Cash for 53.47.. I don't think my second card had exactly 53.47 on it, and plus.. why wouldn't it have been entered as another gift card? Just strange to me. Needless to say, I will never shop at LNT again. Even before this I have shopped there a few times since our store does not carry everything yours does. Just immagine, if that "Manager" is so set out to let his customers leave unhappy, think about ALL of the customers he does that to daily! I left and in the parking lot gave a woman the last gift card I had with 4.53 on it. I told her why I was giving it and she was extremely shocked. I told her he was rude and would not give me cash back.. HE lost a customer for LIFE OVER ///4.53!!/// How crazy is that?! The woman agreed completely with me that he should have, and she also said that the company will never give you anything back ever if you ask nicely. Seems I am not the only unsatisfied customer. And to think, I was going to register there also for my wedding? Forget that. I don't want my friends and family to go through anything that I went through today at that store. I only encountered one lady there who even smiled and greeted me, and she was helpful.. But the Manager in charge of the store.. He's a joke. I can't believe he would rather lose a customer than just give change back to someone that might have otherwise shopped there many more times. I'm so frusterated and angry with the service I got at LNT. It's a shame. Donald Bentley told me that "we are customer friendly too".. YEAH RIGHT. If he was, he would have gladly given me the change back. It's not like I wanted to cash out a $100.00 gift card or anything like that. I just wanted the damn 4.53 back. That's all. If he did this to me and so smugly, I can't immagine how many more people he is treating this way, how many customers your company is losing due to something so silly. I thought LNT was a nice company like ours, but after visiting this store in Sarasota, I can see why the store was empty that day and why the lady I ran into in the parking lot agreed completely with me, that they do nothing there for their customers. I hate to have to write this, I really do. But I just wanted you to be aware of what your customers go through at this store. It's horrible and no way to make a business grow. I may have spent hundreds more in your store, but now I never will, and it's all because I could not get back a tiny amount of $4.53. I hope that "Manager" starts to take care of the customers better than he is now. He doesn't seem to care at all, and it wouldn't surprise me if in the future you receive more complaints about this location of your store from other unhappy customers. Thank you for taking the time to read and understand this little problem. I hope it does not happen in the future to anyone else.
~~~~~ And THIS is their response to this jerk of a manager and how they did not do the right thing..
Unfortunately it is not our Policy to give Cash Back on Gift Cards. Thank you, Guest Relations
SO WHAT. BBB would have gladly done this for me. This company is HORRIBLE. Never shop there if you want to be treated like a human being! I will NEVER ever shop there again. I hope their company goes bankrupt, as I assume it will since they are HORRIBLE. |
My 2 orders were cancelled for no reason while their website says "in stock". This store has no reputation and doesn't care about it at all. Stay away from it!!! |
I had logged in and spent about 2 hours shopping on LNT.com. Once I had my cart full I went to checkout. I had 2 discounts and tried them both. One said "we can't understand this code, come back later and try again" the other said "expired".. I went online with my code numbers and people were saying they worked OK for them. Hmm I thought. So I wrote a letter to LNT. Now remember this item could sell out, it was Sept 29 and the codes expired at end of Sept so time was of the essence. I told the person that when I wrote a nice letter asking for help with the codes.
The letter I got back was so short and lacked any kind of information that I had to write back. I understand how hard it is to answer emails all day. I've done it ... but if it's your job then you should do it well. The quality of the 'help' I got directed me nowhere. So writing back I had another day .. and waited..
By then then 1/2 of my items were out of stock. The sale was over too. And What would have cost me about $60 is now over $100.
My experience with their email customer service was bad. If they don't train their people to read the incoming email and respond to help the customer then I'm sure they'll hurt people's feelings and people won't enjoy shopping there. |
Lines N things rebate = Scam. I bought over $50 Grand patrician towels from Lines N things. They have a $25 mail-in rebates on a $50 purchase of Grand Patrician Towels. After waiting for 10 weeks, I called them and they told me that my rebate was denied because the UPC number is not on their list. I asked for the correct UPC number, they refused to tell me and kept saying the number is not correct. I looked at the rebate form, there is no UPC numbers listed, and the store receipt shows these towels are grand patricain towels. I will never never buy anything from Lines N things again! |
i should have read the reviews first. i placed an order which they claimed that they never got - despite the on-line confirmation i recieved and order number provided by their own website. when i called the customer support number, the rep was rude and never apologized for the missing order. when asked if i could reorder and still use the coupon, he snapped at me "i am not gonna give you that coupon!" NEVER USE LNT AGAIN!! |
Got a good pricing deal on a mattress pad, but the company screwed up shipping in that it went to my place and then was immediately returned to their warehouse. As this was a gift, I asked they immediately ship a replacement, which they decided not to accomodate. Credited the purchase then would not apply deal on a second purchase to replace original order. CS rep was nice but no authority and apparently managers are holding the line on prices to get the most margin possible, even on a $30 purchase. Poorest shipping experience ever and forget about getting an issue resolved other than possibly getting a credit back. |
Guess my experience is my fault,I read some of the complaints and used them anyway. I ordered a cutlery set for christas and got someones lasgana pan and in order to get what I ordered had to paid again. I won't used them again and wonder why certain websites lets LNT use their website to cheat customers. I now have to go to a store and hope that I can find what I wanted. |
