CC has the 500Gb Seagate IDE drive for $189.99 before a $20 rebate (rebate for online orders only) until 03/31. Fry's has advertised (confirmed in Atlanta) the same drive for $119.99, price valid from 03/31 to 04/03. PM to Fry's to knock off $70 + $7 (10% of difference) and take your chances with the $20 rebate which has a minimum price. If everything goes well, math is -

$189.99 CC price - $77 PM - $20 rebate = $93 + tax.

Drive at CC

CC $20 Rebate - rebate is valid for online orders only (online order for store pickup is ok)

As mentioned, its a big YMMV on the rebate due to the minimum price requirement. The online submission form does not have this requirement. Order online today, do the pickup tomorrow or later (until Tuesday at most) to minimize PM issues.

Huge YMMV w/ the minimum price requirement in place. Still, $113 isn't too shabby for a 500GB w/ 5 yr wty.

Any chance of getting a copy of that advertisement?

thanks

double post sorry

would be all over it if the rebate was larger, like 60 or 70 bucks..

In fact, one of the things I do is to look at the CC drives etc. and see if they have large rebates, like over 50/60 bucks, and if the units are somewhat commonly advertised by Fry's or BB etc. I get lucky from time to time. You just need to order online for store pickup, and go pickup only if the deal materializes with PM opportunity.

If you really need this drive, price is not too shabby, but not too hot either..

I'm looking for a cheap Seagate IDE or SCSI, around 300 gb. I'm about to go hunting but in the meantime, anyone have any killer deals now that everyone's going SATA?

This deal is still going (sans free shipping), or maybe you should get yourself a SATA controller card.

Thanks, but I have a "thresshold" rule when it comes to hardware, and in the case of hard drives it is $100 shipped. I won't go higher than $92 if CA Sales Tax is being charged, or I'm simply chasing technology destined to fall in price dramatically. CASE IN POINT.
