Anybody Planning to Remove the data plan, Please do this
how do u delete the info so that ur phone does not use data network and u get a big fat bill...??
Start Menu > Settings > Connections Tab > Connections > Advanced Tab
Click on Select Networks
Set both to My ISP
Click on Edit... for one of them (they will both be set since you chose the same profile for both)
Click on the Modem Tab
Click on Edit..
Click Next
Remove the Access point name
Click Next
Remove all the information
Click Finish
Its sort of a dirty way to do it. You can't actually remove the connection setting thats in there. But you can remove all the login info so that your phone can't sign on to 3G even if it wanted to. This info can be found in the user manual or online if you ever do decide to use the data network.

Question: One of my friend got the 8525 and his ROM version is 2.xx where as my ROM version is 1.34.502.3.
I think the latest ROM version has the "X" feature which will enable to close and application(Kill) rather than going into the background when u press x on the top.
I want the new ROM version! Anybody has any clue?

Email?
I don't use outlook... blah. I use Thunderbird for non gmail accounts and gmail for most things. The installable gmail program from google works really well. Just sign on to gmail from your phone and there is a link that says make gmail faster. It'll install a program that displays gmail extremely well.
Calendar?
There is also a free utility called Activegcsync that will sync google calendars with the ppc calendar. It's in the early stages and can only sync one calendar instead of multiple. Google it and you should find it.

Contract Length?
Log in online to your account. Look for the last tab that says "My Profile". Then go to the second tab, I think "User Information". About half way down you will find your contract experiation. Don't assume your upgrade due date is your contract end date - they say I have to wait 21 months to upgrade, but my contract is up in a month - does NOT make any sense.
FAMILY PLAN CONVERSION?
Playing around on the site, i also noticed another thing that should come in real handy for all of those looking to transfer to a family plan. You could switch to a family plan online!! Under "Rate Plan & Features" there is a tab on bottom left "Change Rate Plan". The second choice is to "Convert to Family Talk". You can select your numbers, plan etc...
Unlock?
what's the standard unlocker for this phone? I found something called v3a at the xda site
i used the v3a and it worked like charm...pretty neat program

Delete 3G setting? Eliminating potential charges?
Use isp if you have PDA data connect, use wap if you have media max. Delete it if you don't use either. The phone WILL try to connect to 3G if wifi is unavailable and you open a program that needs internet. This can be very dangerous if you don't have a data plan, since you can't turn off the charge per use from at&t.
Start Menu > Settings > Connections Tab > Connections > Advanced Tab
Click on Select Networks
Set both to My ISP
Click on Edit... for one of them (they will both be set since you chose the same profile for both)
Click on the Modem Tab
Click on Edit..

Want old phone number from Cingular?
the best would be...port your number to prepaid Tmobile...no activation fees...port the number back to the new Cingular phone.
porting hotline for Cingular: (888) 898-7685
Anyway around old number?
I hear a lot of people talking about porting back and forth, but I don't see anyone who actually did it yet. I can tell you what I did. I left my two old phones up (because I have 2 months left in the contract), and just set up voice mails that told callers my new number. If someone doesn't call and get the new number in the next two months, they must not need to talk to me much anyway. I know it seems like a pain to change phone numbers, but it isn't that big of a deal (unless you have it printed on business cards)......
Unofficial Windows Mobile 6 ROMs comparison
Keep in mind that flashing your ROM with unofficial versions may void your warranty. The XDA forums are generally very good at helping you out. But if you don't know what you are doing, I'd suggest waiting for the official upgrade. HTC (makers of 8525) has announced a WM6 upgrade sometime this year for free.

Copying Contacts?
Go to SIM Manager then to Menu and Select All and then tap and hold the screen and press save to contacts.
Turn off startup animation
WARNING, DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU KILL YOUR PHONE
Get a registry editor (I use the HTC signed one here - download, unzip, send to 8525)
Go to: HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation
Go to: Enabled
Change from: 1 to 0
wait 30 secs
do a soft reset
Did this on 3 8525s already. All works
