Ok, so I called to cancel my crappy Vonage service today and was surprised by an offer that the CSR recommended I tell my friends about.....so, Fatwallet friends, here you go.

I subscribe to the Unlimited plan and was paying $24.99. He told me he could drop that to $14.99 with two free months of service. I asked how long it was good for and he told me that it would stay at $14.99 for the life of my service with them. In addition, since I complained about the quality of the calls, he sent a free adapter out to replace the one that I've had for the last two years. Not sure if it will help the quality, but at the new price, I'll give it a shot. Once again, he told me to tell any friends that are Vonage customers about this deal so they can take advantage of the promotion as well. Hopefully he's correct about that.

Are you sure you don't have the 500 out minutes a month plan?

Nope, I've got the unlimited. I've lived in too many states and gathered up too many friends across this fine nation to get by on 500 minutes. Like I said, I was really surprised by the offer, and I think I forgot to mention that he was even kind enough to credit those two free months at the $24.99/mo that I had been paying. I have no idea if the new router will improve the call quality, but I'd have been a bit nuts to pass up the opportunity to try it out.

no go for me! I was told to provide 'myfriend's' phone number or account as a referral and for verification....

I called for the second time and talked to 2 different reps. One at sales and one at cust serv. The first one did not know anything like that - he contacted the superv. as well. When I got transferred to cs, I was asked for the friend's phone number to verify the deal because they did not have such a thing either.
