The Southern Coast Air Quality Management District, did this exchange in the last two years and I exchanged my gas lawnmower to a neuton battery operated mower last year. If you have a large yard, do not even consider this exchange. I have a track home with about 2000 sqft of grass area, which needs to be mowed and it is just about enough.

For those of you who do not have lawns, find a cheap but working gas mower from a garage sale for 10-20 bucks. Add $100 to your investment. Total cost of neuton mower to you shoud be under $125. New units sell around $300. Can you say fleabay ?

I did this deal last year and these are terrific lawnmowers! They are so much nicer to use. No stinking of engine smoke when you're done mowing. They're quiet and light to push and are very easy to maintain. I did my yard and two neighbors lawns for a total of maybe 4500 sq ft. all on one battery charge and that includes the edging work so they get good performance from the battery. The only adjustment you make is the smaller cutting swath which is about 18 inches on these machines instead of the standard 22" on a power mower. But since it's so light you don't feel any down side to pushing it. The exchange program is quick and easy and this price is a steal. This mower is much nicer than any electric I've seen in the stores. Sturdy and well built with great customer support. I recommend it highly. Mine came with optional edger/trimmer attachment too. And they don't even require you to demonstrate the mower is working. In fact they ask you to drain the gasoline before you bring it.

The narrower cutting swath is a minor annoyance, but the major one is that my hands cramped up from having to grip the handle 100% of the time, because that's the only way to to keep the power on. It's a nice safety feature, but an ergonomic nightmare. We returned our Neuton mower, and will be getting a different electric mower this year.

you should be able to disable the stupid holding of the handle feature ..just take a look at it..i take all the dummy gizmos off that lawsuits brought on..and battery powered anything is just a waste of time ...the more gas cylinders the better imho
