Rebate $20

Did a search and didn't see this posted, well not this exact deal, just older threads about it. Seems like a pretty good deal if you're in the market, I'm thinking about picking one up for my new EEE PC 1000H. It can also be used to upgrade your PS3 if that's what you need.

$74.99 - $20 = $54.99 + shipping

That new Item Atom is going to do what I have been waiting on for 10 years. Finally result in usable and affordable 2 pound laptops! I don't even own a laptop because I have little use for a 6 pound machine when desktops are better in every way if you don't need portability. But a cheap 2 pound machine, that's different. Now I just need it to fit in my pocket. It won't be long...

Get a smartphone for internet, email, Word and Excel. The Motorola Q9c does a great job and I paid $50 with upgrade from Verizon. I have had Qs for over 3 years and they fit in your pocket.

A smartphone can only really take you so far though. I personally wouldn't want to surf any longer on a smartphone than I'd have to. With a small laptop you can do pretty much anything you'd need to do on a larger computer, plus it's nice if you wanna take it on a trip or something and watch movies or work on a plane.

this might come as news to you, but there are laptops that fall between 2lbs and 6lbs...you should probably have looked harder...several companies such as Dell, Lenovo, Sony, to name a few, make these wonderful machines...

i feel sorry for you that you waited 10 years and never realized that in those 10 years there have been so many laptops that weigh less than 6lbs...

And are significantly faster than an Atom-based laptop. If you plan on doing anything more than simple web + email you're going to wish you got something faster.

And cost multiple times more...

Maybe if you actually read his post you'd see it said, "usable and AFFORDABLE 2 pound laptops" I don't know about you, but personally, I don't think a $2,000+ laptop is affordable. But that's just me.

This doesn't seem like a deal to me.

Thank you for your valuable insight, though it'd be a bit more valuable if you included why. Obviously it's not a steller through the roof deal, otherwise I'd have tons of green and it'd probably be sold out by now. However, looking around the forums I haven't seen it for a lower price (at least not recently).

Seems like a good deal. If I had not already received my 320GB Seagate from Buy.com, I would have ordered this.

You are perhaps confused with 3.5" (desktop) SATA driver. there indeed a good deal for 250GB is under $50. However in the laptop-sized 2.5" SATAs, a good price is under $85.

So this - which sells for $75 *before* $20 rebate - is a GREAT deal for those who need small factor disk

Green.
I'd get this if I needed it. I'll wait and get one as a PS3 replacement when I need one. (Trying out a new strategy).
