good deal if you can actually get it for $999. i have an older 37" Philips and it's still going fine. i'm a little disappointed with the contrast ratios of just about every LCD TV Philips has ever released though...

Just an FYI Philips now outsources all of their U.S market TVs to Funai. So it says "Philips" on the outside, but it's made by Funai. This may make no difference to you at all, but at least you now have that info. I doubt the drones at the electronics stores would tell you this even if they knew.

it obviously says 1399, 1199 After Mail In Rebate, there is no instant rebate. So its actually 1199 not 999.

It is $999 in store only per the email
The exact text of the email states-

I have this tv and am very happy with it. Compared to my 720p Panny plasma and my Eyefi 1080p it serves well. I use the Eyefi to hook up my laptop, so sorry, can't help you there. The contrast on the Panny is significantly better, as would be expected, but the colors on the Philips are richer. The Philips takes you through a nice setup routine when you first plug it in asking you which rendering you prefer of a series of two renderings of the same scene. I don't know who manufactured it, as it may predate the Funai relationship.

Based on the UPC, the set is the 47PFL5603D. This is a 2008 model set. This is not a Funai set, this is the last round of true Philips sets for the US. The '09 models will likely be the Funai sets.

This is a VERY HOT deal. I got the 47PFL7422 (pretty much the '07 model of this set) from the Philips Outlet and I absolutely love it. If I didn't have that set I'd be all over this. Just make sure you send in for the rebate right away!

BTW, I believe the set has 4 HDMI ports: three in the back and one on the side.

I also bought two from that store on Friday. But neither are for me =(. The set looked absolutely amazing though when I set it up.
