at a minimum, ask her to independently investigate the outfit on the internet. google would be a good place to start.

Catch her in the act. Find out when her next meeting is and follow her to her meeting. Now you have proof that she's going to the meetings. Then print out all the complaints, warnings, etc.. about Marketing America and have her read it.

A person I considered a friend once tried to convince me to join Market America. One of the funny moments included the following IM to lure me in:
her> I'm on track with my plan to ,make 100K+ a year
me> hows that?
her> I'm half way of making my goal of 1500$ this year(i'm guessing gross or crap she sold, she clams net)
me> ????
her> than I will make 1500$ in 6 months, than 1500$ in 3 months, than 1500$ in 2 month, than 1500 in 1 month, than 1500$ in 2 weeks, than 1500 in one week!

I actually went to one of the "buisness" lunches, and they love to say "If it doesn't work out in 3-5 years, there still plenty of time(cycles) to try again". This was versus working hard, saving, and investing wisely.

This is easily the funniest thing I've read on Fatwallet. I mean what, does Marketing America have unrelated non-business demonstrations like Kung Fu monks, or was your mom just making up the most absurd excuse in the world? God this is crazy.
