I tried to order a free credit report through Equifax. However, when I click the link "View and Print Your Online Report", the site ask me to log in. But I don't have a user id and password with them. How can i see my report?
According to their website, I have to purchase their products to get registered. Is that true? I can't even find a phone number or email address to contact their customer service. Anyone can hlep?

www.annualcreditreport.com - Get your truly free credit report from here.

If you need to create an account, create an account. You don't need to pay them to do so.

They will try to sell you stuff as you register. Just don't click 'purchase' on any of it, don't give them any payment information, and you should be fine.

It may just be me, but I was not able to get the free report from Equifax either. I went through the online process and then got an error stating that they couldn't process my request online and to send some ID info to them with the paper form. I sent that information in and then they sent me a letter stating that I already got my free report. I don't trust Equifax very much -- it doesn't help that I work in the mortgage servicing industry and have seen some big errors on their end...

No, you have to purchase something to become member, then you can log in.

Yeah, I noticed that about a year ago when I got my free report it never let me setup a username. So I was never to view the report again. I have since got a username with that free Paypal monitoring thing.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) mandates that each of the credit bureaus MUST provide you one free copy of your credit report per year.

Use the link I listed above. You do not need to pay a cent to Equifax.

I did. I follow every step and get to the page that show ""View and Print Your Online Report". After I clicked the link, it asked me to log in.

If you are getting this b/c of a recent decline, adverse action, looking for gainful employment, etc (basically, eligible free reports through the FCRA) go to http://www.equifax.com/fcra This will let you download it for free rather than requesting it by phone or mail.

Keep in mind this is DIFFERENT than the regular, one free report per year per bureau thing.

You can just call Equifax and tell them to mail one to u. They didnt charge me when I did that end of last year

What I find is they are willing to give you a free credit report but if you want to know your score then you have to pay - both requiring you to sign up and confirm identity.

Just a thought, no evidence to support it... Perhaps you got tagged as a returning customer somehow? Close your browser, clear your cookies and try again.

Edit: Have you ever purchased a report or score online from Equifax? If so, you probably created an account then. Even if it was 6 years ago, they'll still have it.
