No.
bofafuctme should setup a public website and try to reach the person at the risk dept.
It will be pretty interesting once that person finds out he becomes a public enemy of fatwalleter.
i will never keep my money in BofA. what is up with these research fees? how can they be allowed to charge this? what are u going to get in small claims for your trouble 200 off your next mortgage, like the offer for their last settlement for their wrongdoing? what a joke! what other banks are nortorious for doing this?
I just started reading this thread. Best of luck to you OP, I hope you get your money back, and then some. I for one, will NEVER put any money into Bank of America because of this issue.
I used to have that attitude, and they lost my business over a screw-up for 5+ years once. Still, tough to beat MBNA billpay and the $500 extra cash in KTC match ![]()

I finally got my money back as well, about 45 days after they closed my accounts.
I'm glad to see others are keeping their money out of BofA just from reading this thread. It's ridiculous how they treat established customers.
I'm definately not going to bank with them. I have 60$ in my campusedge checking account and thats all theyre ever gonna get from me. You guys should really email the Consumerist and see if they will run your story.
i know from experience just how out of line BOA can get. based on my own experience plus this thread, i am moving my money market assets (which is the bulk of my deposit $) out of BOA. good luck op.
Its legal to record the entire call regardless if several people pick up the line as long as the initial person agrees to be recorded which he did.
Not necessarily.
Coming in very late to this thread, but just an FYI:
It isn't advisable to inform someone you are taping a conversation. This will generally be noted on your account and preclude further conversations. However, there are many states where you can record your own conversation without the consent of the other party.
Use this list to find out if you can tape. Note: if you live in a state where you can tape, but are calling a state where you can't... The law here is unsettled. Get permission in those cases.
I have a feeling your name was flagged by Homeland Security and your bank accounts were frozen. Long story short, assuming you haven't broken any laws, get a good lawyer and don't do business with BoA.
One of my buddies at work is talking about a potential deal brokering 2,000 laptops for a foreign former XXXXXX for use in a foreign XXXXXXXXX call center arrangement. The sale would involve over $1 million and would be wire transferred over to his personal bank account. He would get a keep a percentage of the sale, as the same laptops in that country would cost up to 6 times more.
After reading your post, I warned him against working with large amounts of money without proper paperwork. Anytime you have large amounts of money wired or deposited into your account, it seems the IRS, FBI, and Homeland Security are flagged. And this is especially true since you have a foreign name, which my friend does.
It also doesn't help that he's working with foreign XXXXXXXX individuals and their XXXXXXXXXX!
NOTE: SORRY, had to XXXXXX out certain words after I realize certain people are monitoring this post.
Is the solution to this to
only bank with Fidelity?
I realize that Fidelity outsources their credit card to BAC, but everything else would be administered by Fidelity. Reading threads like this makes me remember the tremendous importance of customer service, which is usually available at stellar places like Fidelity. Can't beat 'em.
My family used to be BofA customers, until few years ago - when my dad wanted to close his account in California while he was at local branch in Arizona (the account in California was for my brother - he was no longer there). He was told he could not do that, unless he went in person to that branch in California - but he could withdraw until the minimum balance (I believe about $ 500). He wrote formal inquiry (with notary stamp) to close the account - but his request was again rejected. Due to no activity, they started charging fees. He could care less, but he never put anything in BOFA again in his life due to this complication. He used to have more than $ 150,000 with them under several accounts, but no more.
My lawsuit has been filed and Bank of America has been served. The trial date is set for February 8, 2008. I'll update the thread when something new happens.

Good luck! Keep us posted.
What are you suing for? Just your own money back, or damages too?

1. Nigerian Prince

Thanks theficus, for updating.... and for continuing to update.
*Tech sits back for another 30 days, waiting for the results of the suit*

It's not in the OP's best interest to post too much info about his pending suit, but I do hope that after everything is said and done, that he comes back to post an update with all the details.

They'll settle, so better come up with an amount you are happy with--unless you really want to go to trial.
Put "Confidential - Not to be Discussed in Court" in the headers of your responses.
I'm suing for actual damages. Bank of America has been served but has yet to respond. Although I'm fully prepared to go to trial, I'm hoping for a reasonable settlement.
