Amazon pulls hoverboards from site
Amazon Prime members hoping to find hoverboard deals today and moving forward (for now), just got burned. That is, they won’t find them on Amazon.com, or Target, or Toys R Us. (as reported by Ben Fox Rubin/CNET) While Amazon pulls hoverboards from site sales, some sites, like Rakuten, still offer hoverboards for purchase.
On Friday of last week, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that, “All hoverboards that lack independent certification have reportedly been deemed unsafe by the U.S. government.” and that they “pose an unreasonable risk of fire” if they don’t meet voluntary safety standards. So basically, all hoverboards currently on the market do not meet these standards.
