Stores offering Thanksgiving hours has been a topic of controversy in recent years, and many people have even spoken out against the shopping fever that is Black Friday. Some love the deals and don’t care about the rest, while others complain that having people work retail hours on Thanksgiving is preposterous — all the while glossing over the fact that retail workers aren’t the only workers who may be required to work on Thanksgiving. Whether right or wrong, one retailer is giving the holiday back to its workers.
Staples has announced that none of its stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day. Demos Parneros, president of the North American stores and Staples.com said, “We want our customers and associates to enjoy Thanksgiving their own way.”
Don’t fret though; you’ll still be able to access Staples’ Thanksgiving deals online at Staples.com. Black Friday in-store deals will begin at 6 a.m. Friday morning. you’ll have to wait until 6 a.m. on Black Friday morning.
“On Thanksgiving Day, customers can shop from home on Staples.com and then continue their shopping in stores starting at 6 a.m. on Black Friday. Whether our customers like the convenience of shopping online, in our stores or a combination of both, Staples will have amazing products at great prices throughout the holiday season.”
Not wanting to lag behind all of the other early birds (Walmart, Target, etc.), Staples also announced that you won’t have to wait for Thanksgiving to get great deals. Starting in early November, they will offer holiday savings both online and in store. Make sure to also take advantage of the Staples Rewards program (a favorite of FatWallet forum users), offering not only rewards on your shopping, but also granting you free shipping on all items at Staples.com
