Valentine’s Day For Couples
By guest contributor Susan Kessler, AKA The Frugal Diva
When did this become a day to spend money on a multi-course, over-priced meal? After all that food, The Frugal Diva wants to take a nap not indulge in romantic activities. And this does not make The Frugal Dude too happy.
Spending the price of a used car for dinner does not shout love, it shouts I have not thought about this and went for a quick fix. Why not go to your local market and prepare a simple meal with special ingredients for your beloved? Do they love scallops, search the Food Network and come up with a great recipe. Turn down the lights, turn on the music, and romance will be in the air.
Rent a few of your partner’s favorite movies. Guys treat your date to chick flicks and you will be rewarded. Women take this opportunity to figure out what makes gross out comedies appealing. Remember when love was about doing something for the other person?
Take the time to volunteer together. It pulls at my heart strings when I see how kind and considerate my partner is towards others. And extend those feelings toward each other. Now you’ve got the idea. Go forth and use V-Day as a springboard to sharing the love with everyone.
