Do you match competitor’s online prices? 
Yes, we offer our lowest price guarantee on any retailer’s in-store and online prices.  The only exclusions are marketplaces, third party sellers such as deal websites, and auctions.  Our lowest price guarantee includes items sold by Amazon. com but not by a third party on Amazon. com. 

Do you match JCPenney. com prices?
Yes, we match JCPenney. com prices on in-store purchases and vice versa.  The extra 5% off applies only to competitor prices and does not apply to price-matched purchases between JCPenney and JCPenney. com.      

Do you have any blackout dates?
No, we offer our lowest price guarantee 365 days a year, including Black Friday. 

Is your lowest price guarantee available in all locations?
Our lowest price guarantee is available for purchases in-store and online in the continental United States.  Purchases in Alaska and Puerto Rico are excluded.

What if the item is out of stock?
No rainchecks will be issued for items out of stock at JCPenney or JCPenney. com.  We do not price match competitors if they are out of stock.

Do you have any quantity limitations?
We reserve the right to limit quantities of price matches per identical item per customer for in-store or online price matches.

Can I use a coupon or other discount when price matching?
Yes.  All eligible coupons and discounts, including employee discounts, will be applied after the price match is made. 

Are shipping charges included in the price match?
No, the price match does not include shipping charges.  Our lowest price guarantee applies to the item only.

What is a “current advertised price”? 
A current advertised price refers to the price for in-store or online products shown in a competitor’s or JCPenney ’s advertisement.  The price must be valid when you present the ad to a JCPenney associate in store or when you reference an online ad to Customer Care.  Our lowest price guarantee applies to advertised prices only and does not apply to unadvertised in-store prices.       

What is an “identical item”? 
An identical item refers to an item that is the same brand, style, color, quantity, size, model number, weight, etc. We reserve the right to verify the advertised price, item specifications, and availability. 

What type of proof do I need to bring? 
Please bring the complete original advertisement, so we can see the entirety of the item description and pricing information.  Photocopies and mobile phone versions may be accepted, but we may verify the details.  If you call Customer Care, the price must be valid in an online ad accessible to a JCPenney associate. 

What if I already made my purchase? 
If a lower price is still valid, present the qualifying ad with the JCPenney customer receipt within 14 days of purchase and JCPenney will reimburse the difference.  If the lower price is from a competitor, then we will also beat that lower price by 5%. 

Are there any other guidelines or limitations?  
We do not match the following types of pricing:
•  A competitor’s free, special, or bundled offers, rebates, discontinued, clearance, liquidation, or closeout prices
•  A competitor’s prices on open box, display merchandise, outlet, or used merchandise
•  Sales tax promotions
•  Prices for services (e.g. optical, salon, portrait, flooring, delivery, installation, shipping and handling, assembly, warranties, protection plan, etc.)
•  Coupon-required or gift card offers
•  Competitor’s private label price promotions
•  Prices that require a club or loyalty card
•  Military BX, PX or NEX retail store prices
•  Prices, special financing, or discounts associated with credit cards
•  We also do not honor the following types of ads:
•  Ads where the original price or the sale price cannot be determined
•  Expired ads
• Ads with misprinted prices or associated with an ad disclaimer

bullcrap.  this is just like bestbouy's "pricematch" policy...  I tried to pricematch something at the register a few days ago and the lady laughed and said she could offer me 15% off with a "secret store coupon".  (The item in question was $10 basically everywhere but Penney had it for $22 prior to any discounts)

I'll try tomorrow... Just got some Nike 
shoes which I know are cheaper somewhere else but return is much easier at JCP... If not, I'll try Citi price rewind.

How did it go?
 

I tried to match something this morning over the phone. The associate was clueless about the policy transferred me to another person who argued that they have a list and wal mart is not on it.

Did you point them to the Penney website's policy, which states "we offer our lowest price guarantee on any retailer’s in-store and online prices"? 
That is directly from the Penney website text that I pasted into my original post, above.

If your purchase fulfilled the criteria but they did not give you the pricematch because they said they don't match WalMart prices (which they do),
I would definitely call again and ask to speak to a manager this time --
and if they can't help you, call the national customer service help number.

To sort out a different issue (not a price-match), last month I had to speak to several clueless associates in my local Penneys store who gave me incorrect information (seemingly off the top of their head in order to avoid having to spend any time on my problem), so I had to call the national number, and then I had to call the local store back to ask for the manager, who eventually sorted the problem out.
