even before R+, I've been all prepaid. i don't have good Sprint coverage where I am and network preference go VZ then ATT then TMO. I won't consider Sprint unless free. Some people don't like yearly plans. It's hard to beat their price and I've been with Red Pocket for over a year already. yes, they can go out of business suddenly but as far as MVNO's go, I would consider these to either top or 2nd tier. I would stay away from 3rd tier MVNO's, but to each his own.
i have found www.prepaidphonenews.com to be a great source of information on the deals on phones and plans.

My top current picks are:
individual plan, monthly - H20 $30/mo or $27 w/ autopay- unlimited min, text & 3gb data on ATT towers. $10 credit for international calls each month
family plan, monthly - Cricket $100 for 5 lines - unlimited min, text & 3gb data on ATT towers. free phones or credit promos now and then
individual voice only - $80/2000 min on pageplus.
individual rock bottom for 2gb - mintsim  $199/year ($165 on sale) unlimited min, text & 2 gb data on TMO towers.
individual rock bottom for 1gb - red pocket$199/year ($165 on sale) 1,000 min, text & 1 gb data on VZ/ATT/TMO/S towers (you pick)
