This is a nice change that I recently noticed when buying some new Groupons.

Complete details here, may require log-in to read it.

For a voucher to be eligible:

  • The voucher must have been designated as eligible at the point of purchase.
  • The voucher must have not been viewed or redeemed.
  • Depending on what is designated at the time of purchase, the trade-in must occur either (a) between purchase and the two (2) weeks after the promotional value expiration date, or (b) only during the two (2) weeks after the promotional value expiration date.

After trading-in the voucher, your Groupon Bucks will appear in your account. Once the Groupon Bucks appear in your account, you will have twenty-four (24) hours (“Trade-In Window”) to use them to purchase another voucher-based Merchant Offering. Vouchers exchanged for Groupon Bucks are ineligible for redemption during the Trade-In Window. If you do not use the Groupon Bucks during the Trade-In Window, and the end of the Trade-In Window is before the promotional value expiration date, the amount paid and promotional value of the voucher will be restored. If you do not use the Groupon Bucks during the Trade-In Window, and the end of the Trade-In Window is after the promotional value expiration date, only the amount paid for the voucher will be restored.Once the applicable value of the voucher is restored, the Groupon Bucks will be removed from your Groupon account. If you do not use all of the Groupon Bucks you receive during the Trade-In Window, (a) any Groupon Bucks not used will remain in your account and will not expire, and (b) there will be no value restored to your voucher.

While I haven't failed to use any Groupons by the expiration date, unless there is a problem, like the business is closed or closed for renovation or something, and never requested a refund because I changed my mind, although have received a few refunds during the (currently) 3 day period when it is eligible for a refund, not after, if I missed something like a short expiration date or certain restrictions that would make it difficult for me to use it,  I have found that Groupon 's once excellent customer service (I have been buying them since they had one deal a day in my very major city market and you got points, redeemable for credit, for being the first or one of the first 50 people to buy the daily deal) has gone greatly downhill recently.  For example, a restaurant I had a Groupon for was closed with no indication they would reopen or that it was temporary, and weren't answering their phone.  Groupon customer service rep, instead of just returning my Groupon I couldn't used wanted to have me speak with someone else to make "an appointment' for me to waste my time going back to a closed establishment.  Another time, I bought a Groupon,.  A few days later I received an email from Groupon informing me that the offer was incorrect and the voucher was being corrected to provide half of what was offered, which was pretty much the same offer they offered without a Groupon, and that I could request a refund if I preferred.  I had no problem with there being an error somehow, and having not attempted to use the voucher yet, didn't lose anything or go out of my way, and had no problem just getting a refund.  I emailed customer service as advised in the email I received, and informed them I received the email and was requesting a refund as they offered,  Instead of getting a refund, I received an email response that among other things informing me of the 3 day window to request a refund.  I replied clearly telling them I expected a refund, and nothing short of a refund immediately and told them what I thought they should do with their '3 day refund' policy.

I had one Groupon expire in the past year. Groupon let me exchange it. Love it!

anyone know where to call or email to get expired coupon for bucks? thanks
