I personally don't think this is a hot deal because Sony Vue is a more complete replacement for national cable TV, but if you are a cable TV minimalist, then check this out...

Use the coupon code below to receive a free Roku 2 if you prepay 3 $19.99 months of SLING-TV service and you are not a current customer.

Use coupon code MissYou15.  Code expires November 30.

This is good. If you are a tmobile customer you can get the service for like 13 dollars a month + get a free roku. Google it, slingtv for Tmobile customers.

The Sling TMobile offer is here https://www.sling.com/tmobile but no indication you can stack with the other offer. It seems like a Roku 2 is about $60 so it seems like a decent deal if you are in the market for either Sling or Roku anyway. I got free Rokus from Dish in the past. I would do it if I could get it for $42 through the Tmobile discount...

EDIT: Maybe it is possible, since it looks like you can sign up as a TMobile customer to get the discount -- don't know if it will take the offer code at the end. If someone else tries it please share!

What is this Sony Vue you speak of ? How much is that and why is it better?

I was seriously considering this offer a couple weeks ago when I saw it. I wanted to try out the service plus I had been thinking of buying another Roku. It's a killer deal since I prefer the Roku 2.

Good deal for those who have tried and bailed on Sling TV.  For the rest, it's just the usual promo.

As to whether this is a better deal than Vue, it probably is. Here's why...

There are two Roku 2s.  The Sling TV promo page says the Roku 2 they are including has wired ethernet.  Only the newer Roku 2 has wired ethernet.  Also, the older Roku 2 has rounded edges and the one pictured in the promo has tapered edges like the Roku 3.    This Roku 2 is the current Roku 3 with an IR remote instead of the voice remote with the earbud jack and the motion controller (for games).  It costs $70.  (I would take a screenshot of the promo page just in case they try to send the older model.)  Sling TV Orange (one stream, ESPN/ABC/Disney) is $20/month.  They are paying YOU $10 to take a three month trial.  If you want a Roku 2, this is a no brainer.  The Roku 2/3 models were superseded by the Roku 4 last fall, new models are about to be released (substantiated rumor), and Roku updates are always a roller coaster ride, but, if you want a Roku and do not care about voice search or private listening, this is probably the one you want.

After your three month commitment expires, you can take your Roku 2 and $10 over to Vue and get a $7 trial.

Vue is a streaming service like Sling TV.  I haven't tried either, but will likely sample both over the winter.  I hope Sling TV proves to be a better option simply because it can be streamed to a Channel Master DVR+ and I have three of those.

Cord Cutter News does a very good comparison of the services including a grid of compatible devices and another of channels...

I don't have Sony Playstation Vue but I did go to their website.  Vue may be a good alternative to cable/satellite TV.   For instance, for $30 a month you get 55 channels (more channels available for slightly higher price) and you can automatically have it record shows for you to view later (and you can fast forward through commercials).   You don't need any DVR's.

You don't need a Playstation because it also works on Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, & Chromecast.   Local channels are only available in the 10 largest markets but it has On Demand for CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox.   In the cities with local channels the price is $10 more. There is no contact and no equipment fees and you just need an internet connection of at least 10 MB.  All channels are in HD. Lastly you can stream up to 5 separate TV's and mobile devices .

Here's the link to their website.

You've conveniently forgotten that you have to prepay $20/mo for 3 months.

I will be attempting middle of January when my 3 mo deal ends. Jen in Colorado told me when 3 mo is done to go do the T-Mobile deal & signup if it's still available..
