great deal I got one of those ultra small i5 pc's to act as a media-hub/HTPC for my tv

Beware when buying from dellrefurbished.com. For example: They absolutely know what type of hard-drive is in the each unit when they post them since they have all gone through a refurbishing process. But refuse to state if the hard drive is solid state or not. You might even think that you can figure it out (like I did) by looking at the options which were available for that model. In my case, the drives over 256GB were HD but they offered SSD with 25GB or less. I bought one with 250GB drive. When it arrived it was a HD. When I went to Dell.com and entered the service code, is showed that the unit originally had a 500GB HD.

When I called dellrefurbished.com "customer support", I started to say "I just got my unit..." but before I could finish my sentence she says that we don't guarantee what is in them. I am like really? So this happens that frequently. Plus, you will pay to return it if you don't like it and 15% for restocking.

Be ware that DellRefurbished.com is apparently NOT Dell. They simply sell old Dell computers.

From their website FAQ:

Exactly. Now read it carefully, like a lawyer would.

Nowhere does it say that DellRefurbished is part of Dell. Of course, the way its worded, they hope you miss that little part.
They only say Dell Financial is part of Dell
The last sentence is totally beside the point, and was simply put in to create the necessary confusion.

Slick people are running that site. I'd stay far away.

You are trying to read too much into it. dellrefurbished.com is the website, the company is Dell financial services. It is not a separate entity.

You are reading too much into it. dellrefurbished.com is the website, "Dell financial services" is the company. They are not two companies.

Data Point - The charge on my credit card for this deal is listed as"Dell FINANCIAL SE..."

So it sounds as if you're better off buying from a computer reseller off Craigslist?

I have bought 3 computers from them in recent years, and have been pleased by each transaction, and feel as though I got a good deal. They have always come packaged like a new PC with all the cables, accessories, and manuals. I have been able to register on Dell's support site for software downloads and to buy extras.

You are buying from Dell Financial Services - see the Terms and Conditions and also the Terms of Use on the bottom of the DellRefurbished.com website.

They should certainly state if drives are HD or SSD.      Sucks you got burned.

But its a given that the sub $200 desktop systems like the deal in question do not have SSDs.

I see that fatwallet is no longer allowing comments on these Dell Refurbished deals. I guess fatwallet was told not to allow users to be warned about Dell Refurbished questionable practices.
